Not at all. Corbyn was never going to be electable in what is a predominantly small ‘c’ conservative country. Anyone who rates immigration as their number one concern with everything else going wrong is either very well-off, xenophobic or painfully gullible to right wing nonsense.

But that’s the problem with the Liberal Left, dare I say it people like yourself and certain others on this site.
You surely can see that uncontrolled economic migration, reaching record levels, IS a major concern to many people in this country and through this happening it exasperates many of the problems that you previously mentioned.
And through your snide, back handed, racist quips, you play into the hands of the far right and push people to be more akin to racist ideas.
You need to address the problem, not be part of it.

If it’s their number one concern they’re beyond hope and lost to the right forever. The country is on fire and that’s the fault of one Party. It’s only uncontrolled if we choose not to control it and we clearly need more economic migrants, not less, given the low capacity in our economy and demand for workers.

Absolutely agree, the current bunch are the ones to blame for this…..but nobody is innocent, from the NeoLibs who want to open all borders, to the lazy ****s who were quite happy taking furlough, while sitting on their arses playing their Xboxes all day……none of this **** comes for free, surely they aren’t that thick not to realise that.
Corbyn made one big mistake in my opinion…..should have stuck to his Left wing principles and totally campaigned on leaving the EU. After all, that’s what the Left had done for years….instead he sat on the fence and showed him self as a hypocrite.

Don’t think he honestly had a chance. Would have still been slaughtered by the right wing press, not been seen as Brexity as Get Brexit Done Nonce Johnson (wrongly) and alienated much of the left. Small c conservatives were never having him.

It's not so much immigration that concerns them (although there are issues) - it's illegal immigration. 60% coming in are from Albania now, almost exclusively men. They're not interested in making a genuine asylum claim. They want to disappear into the black economy, and a, so far unascertained, number of them are getting easy money by working in the illegal drugs trade in the UK. That's what worries people

Nailed it, Stainsey

Nah I’m calling bollox on that one, sorry.
He had a massive opportunity, was riding high on popular opinion and ****ed it up. The fact that his own party, the ones who are now in charge, stabbed him in the back, was of course a major factor and should never be forgotten. They should hang their heads in shame and their treachery should never be forgotten

Is that really keeping anyone awake at night more than the **** that actually affects them every day? They must be doing well.

I sympathise with your view - as I've said before I think the left wing argument for Brexit is at least logically coherent - but I think Corbyn at al would have lost complete control of the Labour Party if he'd come out as pro-Brexit.

It's not either/or. But illegal immigration is right up there among top priorities with more people than you give credit for. Try and look outside your narrow, extreme left-wing clique.

But why Raving (not saying your wrong) ? Is it then purely because Labour has renounced its true Left Wing, working class principles and moved further to the right and more into the belly of big business ?
As you rightly say, the Left wing argument for Brexit is a strong one, that is mostly ignored, so why is this ?

Is immigration, illegal or otherwise, having a material impact on you to the point it’s anywhere near the most impactful political topic currently? It’s absolute bollocks borne from xenophobia and right wing hatemongering.

Of course it is….but you know that but don’t care to admit it.
It affects us all

How can it be xenophobic not to want Albanians entering the UK illegally, disappearing into the black economy and/or working in the illegal drugs trade?

You're being even more ridiculous than usual.

I said it’s borne from xenophobia, which isn’t quite the same and that it’s having minimal if any impact on your life. It’s a classic ‘look over there’ while more important issues get bumped down the list.

Look at the way numbers are increasing. From memory, 28k last year, this year over 40k so far. People are genuinely concerned.

Stupidly, yes. An Albanian selling a bit of gear in the pub is of less concern to me than a puppet chancellor causing a huge interest rate hike or the government siphoning off billions to their mates in dodgy Covid contracts.

Luckily these greedy hotel owners put them all up for free…..otherwise where would we be, eh ?
And yes…the government are ****s for their dodgy deals….that should never be forgotten.

They’re only in hotels when we don’t build the infrastructure to house them more conventionally. Another government long term loss for short term gain.
