Yes, he showed both in the way he chose to respond to Tice’s polite and public greeting. Do you think that was acceptable or do you believe there might have been a better way?

Neither of us know the full extent of the exchange. There's obviously more to it than in the report by Guido Fawkes, who plainly has a grudge against O'Brien (as it seems do a lot of right-wing people who don't actually know anything about him, other than that he's a 'woke leftie').

No I wasn’t attacking him, he’s of no interest to me. I was pointing out that you made a mistaken claim about the BBC reporting (timeliness not content).

What do you think the news programmes should be doing? I’d be interested to hear from participants in the unrest, I’m sure there’s more to it than a cricket match. Hindu/Muslim tension is hardly new, but I can’t remember other examples of it in this country. Highly biased online Muslim sources claim that anti Islamic activities have been on the rise as British Hindus adopt the BJP ideology. Equally biased Indian news feeds claim that there was an anti Hindu rampage after India won a T20 game on 28 August. Might be more Pakistan/India rivalry than purely religious….or sporting. There is too much instant opinion and false interpretation out there to reach a reasoned conclusion, perhaps the mainstream media are right in not leaping to conclusions and fanning the flames by apportioning blame. Root cause is, probably, the same as usual - ignorance.

That's a good post, Stan. Of course, it probably stems originally from Paritition and before that. It's racial. Some Hindu cricket fans apparently chanted "Death to Pakistan" after India won a match, and then Pakistani youths went into Indian areas with bats and other weapons. There's a big policing issue, because the cops are the jam in the sandwich and the rioters are capable of serious violence. Needs to be right up there in the news, so attention is given and it's quashed. Otherwise, it could spread to Hindu and Muslim strongholds in other parts of the country.

He hasn't denied what Tice and Nawaz allege, has he? He's trying to laugh it off.

If he does a program on his life as a pupil of an exclusive public school, and the privileges and advantages, instead of pretending to be down there in the soup kitchen queue, then I most certainly will

This is where you betray the fact that you actually know nothing about O'Briens programme or the man himself. He talks about his privileged upbringing often.

When you call him, make sure you call yourself by your Not606 moniker, so we can get full enjoyment.

Watch out he has a gotcha approach though. How dare he ask people to people to substantiate and/or provide evidence for comments or statements made, terrible journalism.

I doubt I'd get through. His people vet the callers, just as they scour Twitter for anyone saying anything critical about him. I've never posted anything under his Twitter name, but he or his people have blocked me. That can only be because I've been critical of him on other posts. It's happened to other posters too. The guy clearly has a self-esteem issue and a very thin skin. Which is why when a fellow journalist and a politician come to him to shake his hand, he throws a wobbler and tells them to **** off and kill more people. It's childlike.

He'd love you to call him.

You clearly don't understand the point, so here's an example of what can occur:

Jobbie to politician - I understand you're in favour of controlling immigration

Politician - I am

Jobbie - There was a child drowned last week in Greece. Are you not responsible for that child's death?

Politician - what do you mean?

Jobbie - if you had open immigration, that poor little boy would be in England now, playing on the swings and looking forward to living his life as a model citizen. But you've killed him

Thought you didn’t listen to him?

Can you provide a link to the above I’d be interested in listening to that interview

Jeez, I'm giving you an example of the Gotcha interviewing that he practises. Why do you think no reputable politician except those in Jobbie's pocket will come on his show?

Ah so that didn’t happen, apart from in your head.

is that a gotcha?
