This Amnesty report has been panned, including by the UN. The Amnesty official responsible has resigned.
That's a typical tactic of the underdog to put the oppressor off of attacking them....Taliban, Al Quaeda, ISIS all done this so that the US didn't attack for fear of killing civilians....somehow don't think it'll stop Putin though

Amnesty have been widely and heavily criticised for their report for being unsubstantiated. Amnesty stands by the report but have added:
"This does not mean that Amnesty International holds Ukrainian forces responsible for violations committed by Russian forces, nor that the Ukrainian military is not taking adequate precautions elsewhere in the country," it said.
"We must be very clear: Nothing we documented Ukrainian forces doing in any way justifies Russian violations."
Let's get this right....you're condemning Taliban, ISIS and Al Quaeda for breaking international humanitarian laws by putting civilians at risk, but in the same breath saying it's ok for Ukraine to do the same because they've been invaded?
Your caveat at the end was also in the original post.
I'm saying :
- it's not proven that the Ukraine military were deliberately siting military bases in residential areas. Most of the world's media are criticising Amnesty on this account.
- the fact that Amnesty have chosen to criticise Ukraine who are being attacked, and not Russia the aggressors, says much about the political leanings of Amnesty and people are waking up to it.
- comparing psychopathic, murderous, misoginistic regimes like the Taliban, ISIS and Al Quaeda with a flourishing democracy under attack is deeply misguided
I only compared their tactics, not their philosophies. Many other underdog states under oppression from larger states use this tactic to put off attacks, even though it violates humaitarian laws - it's you who are defending that tactic.
