DorothyKuya (1932-2013) was a British communist activist, the co-founder of Teachers Against Racism, and the general secretary of the National Assembly of Women (NAW).She was also a life-long member of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB).. During the 1980s, Kuya became the Head of Race Equality for Haringey Council, and worked closely with Labour Party MP Bernie Grant.

Nobody will know William Gladstone existed now that a hall at Liverpool Uni that I didn’t know of twenty seconds ago isn’t named after him.

people should know their history especially at a university. Maybe they should remain Isambard Brunel University to the ‘George Floyd academy of excellence’ because a lot of those new students don’t know Brunel? Stop talking nonsense. They have plenty of new buildings that will go up that they could name after her.

Funny you say about ‘not knowing’ , classic from Sky news where Beth Rigby is in Hartlepool with Sir Starmer. She pointed at him from across the road and asked a women “do you know him”? She said “no”. Beth replied “that’s Kier Starmer”. The women said “oh is it”. Beth Pressed “don’t you know him”? For the women to say “no” and walked off.
Maybe he should be replaced with this weeks ‘in person’. <laugh>

Sounds BAFTA-worthy.

Incidentally the other person interviewed wasn’t interested in Starmer either and basically said what I was trying to tell you yesterday. However I am sure to be wrong as Mr Starmer believes that people trust him and he is getting through to them, albeit slowly. :emoticon-0100-smile

Sounds appropriate for Liverpool. Maybe they should name their next hall after ex mayor Joe Anderson once his arrest for bribery and witness intimidation has been resolved, he has served any jail sentence and the government has brought Liverpool back from the brink of bankruptcy.

Agree Goldie. I have no problem with them naming a hall after anyone. But don’t bow to this weeks ‘in thing’.

I’m glad we don’t live in Jersey with France threatening to cut off the electricity. <doh>
They really all showing their true colours aren’t they. They can ban shellfish and other fish meat milk traders from France but when we want to take our waters back.... remember we left the club as they said, they threaten us? We need to man up here and tell them to F off.

Wild guess and probably just my anti-British instinct talking but have we not done anything to provoke this threat?

I appreciate we only work to the highest standards when it comes to reading and adhering to what we sign up to but the early signs haven’t been that great for fisherfolk.

I think the problem has been the term “good faith”. That Greek Minister was right all along. After the Brexit vote and the new deal. He said the is EU is run like the Mafia and they will try anything and everything to make things hard. We need to realise that we are dealing with tw2ts and so they need to be treated as tw2ts.

The natural conclusion seems to be to invade France. It would be a vote winner too.

No the natural conclusions would be for both sides to sit down and act like adults and friends and sort. Remember this is about giving a few licences out to French fisherman, Threatening to cut off peoples electricity (which could be life threatening) is just plain nasty.
It does tell us one thing though... we need to be able to not rely on these people in future.

Sounds like its a premature complaint because a handful of French trawlers haven't filled in necessary licence applications post Brexit. Macron's people are generally jittery because they have Marine breathing down the back of their necks.

I'm sure our resident Lord Bore Bore won't see it that way "Europe calling Europe Calling"!
Once again how they overplay something really shows exactly what a horrid organisation they are?

Your moral compass is all over the place sometimes.
