The EU has always been a happy and extremely lucrative 'retirement home' for failed politicians who, when they've run their sorry course in their own country, often find the gravy train just happens to have stopped right outside their front door. Many names mocked for their incompetence at home have amazingly gained top posts in this financial 'black hole', Von Der Leyen is the latest in a long line of such incompetents and will run her term regardless of her unsuitability, she was the sole nominee for the post. Anyone who is happy being tied to such an unaccountable organisation deserves everything coming their way...
The alternative is rather grim though.
Would you feel that way if there was a Labour govt?

Yes, the EU truly is the greatest peace project of our time. At the stroke of a pen, @vonderleyen has managed to unite Labour, Tories, DUP and Sinn Fein, this is a first and Surely she should get the Nobel peace prize?"
But a bad day for wee numpty Nicola...
I think so, yes. I’d obviously feel less strongly about it.
Are you in favour of joining the Euro?
I’d rather not. Is this where you tell me we inevitably would were we in the EU?

Agree...Eurozone is in big do do and I can see it having a nightmare very soon, especially with the problems in Italy? Good news is, I will get more Euro's to the pound... if they ever let us back in?Not Gordon Brown's biggest fan but I'll be eternally grateful he blocked that particular disaster...
