Anyone had any kids effected by the a-level results fiasco?

What an absolute farce. At least the government up here have had the decency to do a U turn and go with the teachers assessments - a few of my sons pals have had issues but he got the grades he needed so we've been ok.

The guidance issued by Ofqual down there, with regards to the validity of mocks, then withdrawn within a few hours stinks of incompetance at the highest levels. Poor kids are being made to suffer through no fault of their own. At least some of the universities are honouring their offers, regardless of grades given.

So ‘Sir Keir Starmer’ could soon be joined by ‘Sir Tom Watson’ if he gets his peerage........nice to see Labour are being true to the people.

All as bent as each other......

what was the point of sending in the police in such a way

For such a keen researcher you seem to be reading an awful lot into a 1 minute clip. Was there a riot or something? Did someone get stabbed? Were the local shops looted? Instead of just posting a meaningless clip and leaving people to jump to possibly wrong conclusions let's start with a few basics. It's a public event which the police have a duty to attend to ensure there is no disorder or violence. There wasn't any. It was a public CELEBRATION. Reminded me of our celebrations coming out of Hillsboro when we secured promotion back to the Championship what seems like a lifetime ago.. A line of police to ensure we didn't misbehave - all good natured and within 10 minutes or so as the buses started to take us back to the station they left us to it. Was that a retreat from a hostile crowd.also?

Sorry I don’t get this one. Starmer got his knighthood for his work before politics. Being knighted doesn’t automatically stop you being “true to the people”.
