Whilst undoubtably racism still exists in the UK, it is a million times better than when I was growing in London in the 70s/80s. Nowadays, I can't speak for you down there, but it appears to be far more integrated.
Up here, I'd like to think that racism and racist attacks are fairly low (although where I live has the lowest non-indigenous population in the UK). There's an additude of inclusion within Scotland, where you are encouraged, no matter on your ethnicity, to actively be involved in community rather than isolate yourselves into your own ethnic groups. There are enclaves of Syrians, Rwandans, Pakistanis and Eastern Europeans in Glasgow, but you never feel uneasy when working around their areas, unlike some of the native ganglands (although even that has calmed down due to the initiative by the Police and Public Health Scotland -
