how about most of these articles that describe it as an outhouse? You need to be writing to have them change it to a more appropriate name (i haven't spot checked them)

An outhouse is a building like a shed or barn that is built on to or in the grounds of a house. I don't see anyone claiming that Cummings was staying in a shed or a barn.
If someone advertises holiday lets, they don't say - Come and stay in our outhouse for ****'s sake

Fair enough, Bobby, I hadn't realised when I read your original post that the word outhouse (which is the word for an outside privy in the States when I worked there) was used widely by the English Press. So my comment is withdrawn and apologies to you for my misreading.
The Grauniad are certainly writing the headlines, one of their photographers must have been short of a shot. No change with the spelling mistakes...
