I don't care about the use of gammon and think it's pretty funny but wasn't it originally for white middle aged men who went pink hence gammon. I just find it ironic that people of the left don't like racism but think this is acceptable tbh.

If its all about historically connotations then calling a black person inky or Nightrider shouldn't be racist but i bet it is. Likewise saying a Blackman has a big cock is also racist nowadays even though these have never been used historically

If you are using the word and implying that it means that someone is inferior due to their race, yep it's racist. Why would you be using these terms anyway? It's sad that anyone would as though the most important thing about the person is their ethnicity and find terms they feel reflect this.

For me, as I've mentioned if I were to call someone 'gammon' it wouldn't matter which ethnicity they were, I'd happily call James Cleverly as gammon when he gets in a tizz.

However it's also to do with history and privilege, whites, especially the British have made this Nation 'great' by ****ting all over over nations, killing them, enslaving and nicking their resources. The Brits have invaded in some way invaded all but 22 countries worldwide!! Been responsible for some of the worst atrocities in human history, should modern Brits, especially whites be blamed for that? Of course not, bit like modern Germans shouldn't have the **** thrown at them. However we should acknowledge that the reason we are as wealthy as we are and certain other nations are poor is in a large part because of these actions. Yet there are a shed load of people who consider they are under attack, being oppressed which is simply not the case, people are just wanting equality and acceptance. So yeah it's mostly whites who think like this because they are in a position to feel like this, because other ethnicities generally haven't had this opportunity. The gammonesque behaviour is held by people who seem to think new ideas shouldn't be put out there, different ways to their own aren't just as valuable, seen this with Morgan especially with vegans, gender neutral, etc.. And seemingly don't accept change that they think might put them out slightly, usually this isn't the case however.

I would say Cleverley is more likely
To be called a ‘coconut’ rather than a gammon.......but each to their own.

I wouldn't use them words (might have made jokes about big penises in the past). I'm saying that it's racist using terms branding a whole race of people regardless of historical connotations or not.

Gammon wasnt used in the sense of what you are using it for (inflexible, attitude rate etc). It was used for the white middle aged racists who go red in the face.

Yeah it's my interpretation of the word, I certainly can't speak for the others who use it. I prime example of what I think you are referring to was on Fresh Prince of Bell Air, can't say that sat well with me either, It's definitely a fine line in certain areas and opinions rather than an absolute for sure.

Totally. The word or meaning doesn’t bother me whatsoever, it’s just the ****in hypocrisy of it all.

I’m pleased to say I’ve never seen an episode of ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ so really haven’t got a clue of what you are on about :)

As I have pointed out this is due to the position these people are in these days, due to the history of the Nation. For me the attitude can be held by anyone, I'll reiterate, this is my view on the term, and is an attack on attitude rather than anything that relates to a birthright or supposed characteristic of a persons ethnicity. 'Gammon' for me is a small group in a much larger population

1. You can't be racist towards your own race. That's not how it works
2. It's talking about a small group of one race, that's not what racism is
3. Gammons look like gammon, it's just a descriptive term

Hypocrisy? Yea right <rofl>

'Don't be mean to angry old xenophobes, it's the same thing as hating black people'

The gammons are all Christians. Can a Muslim criticise a Christian man for being a gammon? If so, can a Muslim criticise Jewish people for having big noses?

You're trying to mix race and religion there. Why is a Christian automatically white?

Gammon is more about a way of thinking rather than a racial characteristic. It's hilarious how snowflakey the gammons are being on this thread <laugh>

Right, priti Patel, you say you will reduce immigration. Do you care to give us some figures! Even estimates!! Cant be that difficult since you can do it for labour!

So what's the answer to my questions?

Race, religion, immigration. That's what brexit basically is about.... immigration. Everything else is just bullshit. Take control of our laws! Ha ha I cant name one that pisses me off. Take control of our borders! We already have control but choose, yes choose not to use it! ****ing joke, it's all about immigration!!

I know I'm not saying you are racist or anything.

I might be wrong about what the word gammon meant or where it was derived from but I'm pretty sure what i described is that.

Tbh i have no issues with anyone using it, its just some light hearted fun. It was more the hypocritical nature of it. I guess if you knew it was used derived for white people now (if that is still the case), then really people shouldnt be using it even if they didnt mean it (such as ignorance over other racist words).
