The Atlee government created the NHS and the Welfare State. It also nationalised vital industries such as the utilities. These were great achievements by a Socialist government, the like of which we haven't seen since. This is to the right of what, exactly?

The Cameron government was cynical in its exploitation of the situation created by the bankers' crash to shrink the state by means of largely unnecessary austerity. Archetypal Tory rich get richer, whilst the poor get poorer. Labour in disguise? Hardly.

You’re missing the point. Social reforms. Substantially larger welfare state. Gay marriage. Death penalty. Attitudes in the 1940s were much different to where they are today.

Banking situation was nurtured by governments of every livery in recent times. It was a bubble just waiting to burst. Just happened it did during a Tory government.

Deficit? All they did was arrest the rate of borrowing, not reduce overall indebtedness. It was pathetic of them.

I must indeed be missing the point. Surely the social reforms are the result of a more enlightened society. Do you want to reverse them?

Boris using humour well to diffuse awkward situations with EU in Biarritz.

He's either like Inspector Clouseau or Detective Columbo. Take your choice, but increasingly, I'm persuaded the latter.

Another stabbing/murder on my patch last night just before I started shift (adding to the umpteen stabbing we’ve already had this week but haven’t been reported) .......I can’t see this **** ending anytime soon.
It’s a ****ing war zone out there :(

Suspect it may not be good in Notting Hill tomorrow late PM. Usually goes off then. Let's see if the police contain it
