A neighbour of Boris Johnson whose wife swore at the Conservative leadership candidate in the street and declared that “all Tories suck” has admitted recording a row between the MP and his partner and leaking the tape to a newspaper.
Tom Penn, 29, a playwright, who lives with Eve Leigh in the same building as Mr Johnson and Carrie Symonds, claimed he had made an anonymous call to police in the early hours on Friday after becoming “frightened and concerned” by shouting and banging coming from his neighbours’ home.
He said he gave his recording to The Guardian because Mr Johnson should be “held accountable” for all of his “words, actions, and behaviours”.

WW1 WW2. Both started in Europe. The EU has created an area where it's people, goods, services intermingle freely, and it has helped make starting military conflict within pretty f***** stupid, as well as inhumane.

I struggle with this idea of sovereignty as a magic reset that will cure all the failings of a greedy little island full of self obsessed people who generally only care about themselves

What’s more not one poster on here can still point to any information about the future after Brexit

Dreams nothing more set against a warped idea about the Union . The very thing that has enriched all your lives in fact millions of lives in this part of the world ... yet it boils down down to wine and cheese etc .

About time a few on here realised that the U.K. is currently the laughing stock of Europe ... Yes that may dent pride but it’s the absolute reality

Don’t knock the messenger time to wake up and if a few of you took the time to look into the different ways of European people you would understand more . Not your two weeks in the sun that’s not worth a **** ... take it from people who work and live in different cultures ... nowhere is paradise you take yourself wherever you go but believe me it’s very easy to see where the faults lie in the U.K.

The only thing that keeps business turning is the greed of the British and what is worse is that some actually still believe that the commerce is down to British people .

I think what you despise is found worldwide in varying degrees sadly. And in regard to the bigger picture the EU has surely contributed to relatively peaceful times.

Prove to me that the EU has stopped any war in Europe ?

How can you prove that something didn’t happen because of a single factor in geopolitics?

It’s likely that by making the economies of the original members, all ravaged by war, highly interdependent, the EU created a continent where cooperation rather than confrontation is the norm. The economic model makes territorial expansion to gain economic strength redundant. EU institutions and structure are basically federalist (and us anarchists like federation, right? Well free association between collectives at least) with a strong anti nationalist ethos. It is only now, after 70 years, that some countries are seeing a rise in populist nationalism (all challenging the EU, none threatening to leave it), partly because the EU has ****ed a lot up, but also partly because people have forgotten what life under nationalists ends up like.

It’s possible that by it’s positive and open approach to the Eastern European countries after the collapse of the Soviet bloc, the EU staved off conflict in that region. It’s almost miraculous that, given the highly mixed populations in those countries, no country took the opportunity to ‘realign’ its borders on ethnic lines, like Russia is attempting in the Ukraine. Probably because they were focussed on raising living standards with the help of the EU (also economically good for EU members of course, no false altruistic motivations attributed here).

The promise of EU membership might just be keeping the Serbs relatively civilised at the moment.

There has been no military conflict between any of the countries in Western Europe for over seventy years. Try and find a similar period prior to 1945. Don’t bother, there isn’t one. The EU is one difference between the last seventy years and all that preceded them. I’m not sure that a causal link can be established (war exhaustion and relative improvements in living standards must also play a part) but it certainly can’t be ignored.

None of which detracts from the argument that the EU needs radical reform, or would cause anyone who is against it on principle to change their minds.

There is a drive in the EU to a more federal Europe, but there is also an increasing drive against that. I'd like to see the UK taking a leading role in the EU, not walking away from problems that impact all of us. We all need to be working together on major issues like climate change, fall out from conflicts close to Europe, security, as well as worker rights, social and health issues, and trade.

I'd like to see the UK taking a leading role in the EU, not walking away from problems that impact all of us. We all need to be working together on major issues like climate change, fall out from conflicts close to Europe, security, as well as worker rights, social and health issues, and trade.

The UK is not leaving Europe. It will work with the EU on security (vital) and climate change - although this is obviously a worldwide issue. The UK is part of Nato which covers conflicts. Workers rights will be very similar. Trade will be under a free trade agreement if the EU agree to that. It's in their interests.

Meanwhile the EU and the Eurozone can become one and the same, again, in its interests not to have a two speed system.

Why on earth do all leavers hate the EU so much? What have they done that has directly affected their lives? Has anybody on here had their lives directly harmed by the EU? It's just pathetic how the whole debate has become skewed by the swivel eyed ! Thirty years of tabloid lies has led to this ridiculous comparison between the EU and Nazi Germany! Completely absurd and now we are going to have a proven liar in charge of our neogotiations!

Some pretty strong generalisations Eastherts -

1. If you honestly believe that all "Leavers" hate the EU, you are in an equally blinded cul-de-sac
2. Some "Leavers" do not appreciate the way that Southern Europe has been used as a perfect market and tool for German banks
3. Some "Leavers" do not appreciate the way virtual regime change was exercised in Greece
4. Some "Leavers" do not believe that moving yourself further away from your customer gives you an improved insight in to what's really going on
5. Some "Leavers" do not believe that allowing indiscriminate and unplanned immigration is the best way to intigrate and take in people with very genuine needs
6. Some "Leavers" do not believe that the one size fits all monetary system can work for members with very different pockets and incomes
7. Some "Leavers" do not believe that the current system and majority of senior personnel are sufficiently willing to accept things need to be "tweaked"
8. Some "Leavers" do not believe that the EU has sufficiently helped its members have a fairer playing field with its competitors.
9. Some "Leavers" do not believe that there was any appetite to go against Big Corporations until the magnificent Magrethe came along - and now for some pitiful reason they do not want to even allow her to go for top post, as it goes against their own whims (GER and FRA)
10. Some "Leavers" believe in a strong, unted Europe, some "Leavers" do not believe this means being joined ala Siamese twins!
11. Some "Leavers" have had direct access to "Industry specialists" from the EU, some "Leavers" would likely let their gardeners be in charge of Industry strategy and execution, rather than these " EU Industry specialists"

Be very, very wary of clubs that so obviously will let you check out any time you like, but will never let you leave!!

Now, all said and done, that is the EU - note, no mention is made of the sheer political incompetence that has engulfed the UK, that is entirely of their own making, nothing to do with the EU!!!!!
