If we could just realise over the next 10 years that we should be more comfortable with our Germany Italian, French, Dutch and Spanish soul mates rather than pursue some crazy idea that us anglo Saxons are this and that we may get somewhere

Historically we should be proud of the U.K. of course but the reality is we are in deep decline culturally and certainly politically. The change will do us good imo we still have probably one of the best historical heritage to draw from

We have lost our way and the divide is split
No good talking about yesteryear imo it’s been our downfall all along. When you sell out then you only have memories imo

This is another of those big remain lies.
Brexit has nothing to do with the people of Europe and everything to do with the undemocratic boys club of the EU.

More BBC bias on the Marr programme this morning.
Two remainers versus one brexiteer, with Marr chipping in with little snide comments against anything Tory or leave.
The odious, smarmy, condescending woman from Momentum spreading lies completely unchallenged.

Credit to you for watching it at this time on a Sunday morning, hardly the stuff to set you up for a relaxing Sunday. In our house it’s the Archer’s omnibus, which means I can ignore it entirely and get on with the paper. Which takes less time every week.

Yes, the people of Europe are fine, so long as they don't want to come here.

(according to most Leave voters)

Christ! Marr is coming across as Labour's biggest fan.
Not letting Leadsom answer any of his loaded questions and constantly interupting.
What a bell end.

Last week all 5 guests were remoaners just ahead of the election, the difference between tossers like Marr and Peston and a proper interviewer such as Andrew Neil is chalk and cheese...

A good political interviewer will give anyone a hard time, irrespective of their party. I agree that Neil does this quite well (even though everyone knows he's a Tory), as did Paxman and the late Brian Walden. Emma Barnet of Radio 5 and now Newsnight is particularly good in my opinion.

Is anyone else getting thoroughly pissed off with this goon of a US president coming over here and telling us what we should be doing in our internal politics ? If Juncker or Merkel were to do the same then the blue rinse brigade would have a field day.

Yes. He now says that he didn't endorse Johnson, even though he said that 'he would be a very good choice'. Presumably he thinks that each of the 73 candidates would be an equally good choice.

And you speak for all leave voters don't you? Anyone else dares to ascribe a reason for people voting leave and they are wrong or talking rubbish but not you, never you.

We are doomed, there is no hope you just can't reason with this level of wilfull ignirance. Is this really what people want ?

No, no at all. We should be learning from it. If you don’t look after people properly you end up with Trump. Or Salvini. Of course the people moaning about him most are the people in complete denial that they had any role in creating the conditions which made President Trump a reality. I hope he stays in their faces until the penny drops.

But it never will.

Marr is a bell end. I thought Leadsom was good and struck the right note about the high degree of firmness with which we have to deal with the EU. She won't win the Tory leadership election, but I'd be more than happy to see her in the Brexit negotiating team.

Disappointed that Gove is now coming out for extending leaving until next year at the earliest. I think that's curtains for his chances when the Tory grassroots vote (if he gets into the last 2)

I seem to recall Obama directly trying to influence the referendum by saying we'd be at the back of the queue for a trade deal with the USA if we voted for Brexit, but hey, he was the nice guy so that's ok...

Huh?

I moan about Trump quite a lot. Is it my fault? Should we have Farage (or perhaps even Tommy Robinson) as PM to teach me a lesson?

I would not defend Obama on this either. There appears to be a trend for US presidents to believe that they can interfere with British politics (in fact with those of everywhere). In contrast the EU. had no part in the debate leading up to the referendum whatsoever - there was absolutely no imput from Brussels. If Angela Merkel were to come to Britain and express any opinion at all regarding 'what the British should do' then there would be a storm about it.
