I belong to a leftie Facebook group that I very rarely post to, but read with interest. They had said the same as you, Dipper, but, after May's statement , the mods put up this notice, which I wholeheartedly agree with....

The admins of the group had taken the decision to suspend posts to this group in line with national campaigning, however, it seems Theresa May has taken this terror attack as an opportunity to promote herself, so we have decided that we must share this information with you. We will maintain the suspension until this evening bar this single, but important post.

Last night, London was attacked in a horribly brutal way. Our emergency services responded, as they always do, with ...tenacity, commitment and bravery, which is to be especially commended given how drastically these services have been cut by Conservatives. We have dangerously few police offices, nurses, doctors and paramedics, yet they rose to the occasion.

Instead of trying to unite the country and to show that the terrorists and their hate cannot win, May is using this moment to score cheap political points and ignoring her own significant failings in this matter.

If our country has been in any way tolerant of terrorists, this has been on her watch. Before she was Prime Minister, she was Home Secretary. It was in this role that she cut 20,000 police officers, despite warnings from the Police Federation that this would leave us open to terrorist threats. She also did not heed specific warnings about the terrorist in Manchester.

We hope you understand our anger and disappointment at this move by May and support our decision to post.

I thought May's response was spot on. She reflected the anger most of us feel. She said it's time for the kid gloves to come off. She was right!!

3 attacks in 3 months certainly dispel the myth that UK security is good, and that the Conservative Government were keeping the Country safe.

Utter crap Oslo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Corbyn get slated for speaking so soon after the Manchester bombing and saying our efforts are not working?

Col with all due respect mate anyone can say words in anger, words others have been saying for years. I can't see what either a Tory or labour government is going to do. Let's see if her bite is worse than her bark

She made a political speech on a day when campaigning was supposed to be stopped in respect to the dead and injured. She is right in that something has to change. She has been responsible for security for seven years and this is where we find ourselves. We need to change her.

The Prime Minister has to make a statement after something like this FFS!!

I've had it with the **** on here!

Yes, of course she had to make a statement, but to use the tragedy to make electoral capital was shameful in my opinion. As was Rudd's use of 'we' when referring to the superb police response.

Let's not forget what is the alternative to the Tories on terrorism. An account was uncovered by The Times when , in 1986 (when the IRA were still murdering people) John MacDonnell, Corbyn's Shadown Chancellor, was quoted as saying the 'ballot, the bullet and the bomb' would end British rule in Northern Ireland.

The Times newspaper found a piece on the meeting in the Deptford and Peckham Mercury, which said: 'Mr McDonnell went on to describe the Lewisham Labour councillors who had boycotted the meeting as 'gutless wimps' and joked that knee-capping might help to change their minds.'

What kind of vile, two-faced piece of **** would say those things?

For ****'s sake! On the BBC news just now they had a piece on the reaction of London Muslims to last night's horror. They had a brief interview with a young woman graduate who hopes to practice law in the City. She spoke about how Muslims must integrate better into British society - whilst wearing a full ****ing niqab!

I saw the bit with one young bloke interviewed in a cafe, saying how sad it is that Muslims get blamed for this, how he now feels unsafe. Join the ****ing club mate.

Would a hoodie have been more acceptable?

Come on mate, you can't integrate if people can't see your face, whether it's covered by a niqab or a hoodie.
I personally think you can. On the one hand it doesn't help alleviate barriers with an older generation (preconceived ideas) but it's all about peer acceptance. If someone has a varied group of friends then I'd consider them integrated. Covering your face might make it more difficult but not impossible.

Losing religious schools and mixing up the demographics in poorer areas seem like the most important long term remedy.
