Watching Trump's year anniversary press conference now. Honestly...how could the Americans have voted him in. Sounds like a rambling, verging on senile, old man rambling about the world, and blaming everything on the last guy. Just weird.

The Black Panthers are getting organised to take on ICE. Could be entertaining.

Meanwhile, ICE thugs have been detaining Native Americans. The irony.

A rabid orange dog lashing out and biting everyone in sight, needs to be humanely put down to maintain world order.

Christopher Luxon's National Party has pledged to revive New Zealand's economy
New Zealand will hold its general election on 7 November, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has announced.

Speaking to a press conference on Wednesday, Luxon said New Zealanders would have to decide "who is best placed to provide stable and strong government in a very volatile and uncertain world".

Luxon, a former airline executive and New Zealand's first elected leader since the extremely popular Jacinda Ardern, has enjoyed a swift political rise: becoming an MP in 2020, National Party leader a year later, and prime minister in 2023.

His popularity has waned during his time in power, however, as New Zealand's economy has stalled.

New Zealanders face high costs of living, housing affordability issues, and an unemployment rate of more than 5%.

The ruling conservative coalition, consisting of Luxon's National Party and the smaller minority parties New Zealand First and ACT, has led the country since 2023.

Polls suggest that it would be a tight race between a National-led coalition and a Labour-led one - and Luxon and his National Party are banking on promises of economic recovery to be voted back in power.

"We knew it would be hard to turn things around when we first came into office, but over the last two years National has been plugging away, working hard to fix the basics," Luxon said on Wednesday.

Now the country is "turning in the right direction", he said, adding that his party is "focused on building the future".

The deadline for the next general election is 19 December.

Reflecting on recent events and how Brexit has affected the UK's part in them, I thought I'd search out a post I made on here back in 2016. I found this...

I voted Stay on here and will do so on June 23rd also. My reasons are more geopolitical than domestic - I believe a strong and united Europe is more necessary now than ever. With Putin becoming more and more belligerent and the terrifying possibility of a Trump presidency in the US, Europe is needed as a moderating influence and I believe Britain should play a full part in Europe instead of acting like a US mini-me.

Seems to me I've been proved right. The US is no ally of the UK, or of Europe. There's often talk of three World superpowers - why should Russia be considered one of them? With a GDP twelve times that of Russia, a strong and united Europe could be way more powerful than Russia and has now shown that Trump's craziness can relatively easily be rebuffed. Europe should be the third superpower and the UK should be a full part of it.

**** the USA.

At least 10% of the UK population now know where Greenland is on a map.....

I had assumed it was closer to Denmark than it is but also knew they’d sought membership of CONCACAF after being ridiculously rejected by UEFA. The Caribbean teams didn’t fancy the schlep and weather so they’re in neither.

Had a booze fueled discussion with a colleague last night, and we decided that Trump was playing the markets with his Greenland threats, waiting for the stocks to fall to a low then getting all his pals to buy, buy, buy, then announce a Starmer style U-Turn and see the markets flourish and his cronies sell, sell sell and make billions - probably. What a tango-faced **** he is.
