Certainly looks that way. Lot of other **** going on too.... @AimenDean It’s seems that we are entering the most dangerous 72 hours so far of 2024! The long and tense Mexican standoff between Israel, Iran, Yemem, Saudi Arabia,US, Lebanaon and others is about to end in an inglorious dust up! Hezbollah is now squarely in Israel’s crosshairs! Hassan Nasrallah underestimated Israel’s resolve and determination to secure its 250k citizens in its northern regions, and prevent another OCT-7 style attack from Lebanon 1914 was all about miscalculations, second guessing the other side’s intentions, and defensive mobilisations mistaken for offensive ones. The events in the Red Sea, and the red lines crossed by all parties so far () all indicate that we are one or two steps away from reaching the point of no return on the escalatory ladder. The Houthis answered the very stern warning with mounting the biggest maritime attack yet targeting naval vessels in the Red Sea. This would force the to retaliate, thus inviting the Houthis to ignite the civil war in Yemen again and forcing the to re enter the conflict. Why would the Houthis gamble and ignore the warnings? Because now the Houthis can paint all their enemies, internal and external, as pro and that the fight against them is a holy war in which they will rally/recruit/coerce young Yemenis into throwing their lives into the second round of the hellish Yemeni furnace! Uncertain times indeed!
Breaking: Rishi Sunak announces emergency legislation to confirm that England has won every World Cup since 1930. “I will not allow a foreign body like FIFA to block our right to be declared winners of all 22 tournaments” said Rishi Sunak.
Stephen Bradshaw, the Post Office investigator questioned by the Inquiry yesterday came across as a right thug
Yeah, we can always find money to go to war. Perhaps if we'd been doing more to rein in Israel's excesses in Gaza (genocide according to South Africa) this intervention wouldn't have been necessary.
This could have been written by Diane Abbott. In fact, she put out a tweet that's almost identical. Everything stems from Hamas's sadistic attacks, torturing and raping women, burning and beheading children, and Hamas's long-term refusal to contemplate any solution to Palestine except the complete destruction of Israel. Of course, Corbyn and Abbott call Hamas their friends
Diane who? Yes, the current conflict in Gaza is the result of the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, and Israel is perfectly entitled to seek to eliminate the terrorists responsible, but its response is rightly considered by the vast majority of nations (UK and US excepted) to be excessive and unacceptable. I would hesitate to call it genocide, but at the very least the actions of Israel in Gaza are war crimes in terms of collective punishment as set out in the Geneva Conventions. As I said, if we and the US had been doing more to put an end to these excesses, the escalation by the Houthis may well have not taken place.
War crimes will be hard to prove imo, due to the fact that Hamas 1. ran its active terrorist organisation in tunnels under the civilian population and 2. sited its missile sites in civilian areas like hospitals and schools. Israel did not target civilian areas per se.
