With the situation in Russia more volatile than ever, that Britain hating old idiot Biden ensures the USA veto Ben Wallace becoming the next head of NATO. Wallace would be the perfect candidate imo.
Biden is beginning to look every bit as dangerous as Putin, just as we enter an increasingly unstable period.

Interest rates have gone from 2.5 to about 7% here
Inflation to just under 8%
Who knew truss could do so much worldwide damage in two weeks
We should all be thankfully to the tories for getting rid of her

From what I've read about them, Wallace seems eminently more suitable imo. He's actually been to war for a start.
? What war? This is a policy role, not a military command. If you think you need military experience to make military policy decisions, like the circumstances where forces might be deployed, we better bring back conscription fast, and for old people too, as very few of our politicians and none of our PMs for a very long time have such experience.

Personally I have no problem with the idea that only people who have been shot at in a military context can really make the call to ask other men (or women) to be shot at, even men who have volunteered to be shot at and to shoot at other people. But it leaves a very small pool of people to choose from. Re NATO Wallace might well be the best person to be secretary general, but he would only direct the civilian staff. As far as I can make out (it’s a Byzantine command structure, which is a bit worrying) the two military commanders, even the European Allied Command, are always American 4 star generals, because the Europeans (including us) asked for this to try and make sure the Yanks don’t lose interest. And given that the whole organisation is very dependent on US resources it makes sense.

Not a matter of vast importance to me. Apart from George Robertson and the current bloke I can’t name any previous NATO Secretary generals. All I’ve seen is the US has a preference for the current bloke to stay on and the Europeans have a preference for the role to be filled by someone of national leader status ie a former PM. Perhaps we should suggest Liz Truss.

On a different subject there are some great war games based on NATO, I think a couple have been made into TV programmes. I’ll try and find them. Long and the short of it is that we don’t have a credible ‘independent’ nuclear deterrent, to use Jacob Rees Mogg’s vocabulary we are a (military) ‘vassal state’ of the US.

Incorrect.
Our nuclear deterrent is operationally independent.
As for Wallace, I'd much rather have someone who actually understands war to a woolly politician who'd wet their pants if things turned ugly.
Plus, if things do turn ugly, Biden could well be a liability.
