I had a good chat with our postie about what’s going on at Royal Mail. The last thing he wants is to be on strike but he’s pretty sure he won’t have a job unless radical action is taken. Have to confess that I was pretty ignorant about what has been going on there. The CEO, Simon Thompson (salary c £600k) is systematically destroying the service (I did a bit of reading after the chat).

Loads of ‘we support the posties’ signs in windows in leafy, middle class Leamington Spa. Ours included. Of course, because we are middle class there must be some Machiavellian reason for this, it doesn’t make sense in terms of class war. I just haven’t worked it out yet.

Glad you’ve kept your bourgeois, middle class thinking at the door and spoke to an actual worker in dispute, rather than read the guff written in the media. I know a few postal workers, who are ex colleagues from BA and seems most are up for the fight. It’s either that or looking for new employment so what have they got to lose ?

Let’s also not forget the £2.4 million worth of shares due to be split between 4 senior executives…..

A Paramedic or a Nurse or a Carer or anyone for that matter has no better claim to a decent pay rise or to keep their hard earned conditions than any other worker. To fall into that trap is what the elite want us to do….stay divided. Don’t you see that ?

Ok, at least you’re giving some kind of opinion on the Mone scandal…Thankyou for that at least. Another question for you…from what you’ve read do you not feel that if true, there has been some kind of collusion with either Government or individuals representing the Government to award these such companies on the preferred “VIP list” highly lucrative contracts…..?

I see what you're saying about preferring on occupation over another. It sounds better in theory than it would work in practice imo. And it could be used by government to give no-one a rise. Public opinion is a factor, and they would favour a nurse or a paramedic over a traffic warden all day long.

Yes, I do think there has been some questionable awarding of contracts. Again, disreputable people taking advantage of a national emergency. There is an inquiry, and it has to get to the bottom of the circumstances around each award of a contract.

Except I’m neither of those things while you’re a Little Englander who can’t accept the world is changing.

You're an extremist, mate. When I asked you what restrictions you would place on immigration, you floundered and couldn't give an answer, because you wouldn't place any restrictions. In your little world of woke Instagramists, No Borders Between Nations is the majority view, I'm sure. But it represents a tiny percentage view of the rest of the country, perhaps less than 1%.

I didn’t give that view whatsoever though despite you claiming it numerous times. The sad fact is your generation have pulled the drawbridge up on subsequent generations and we desperately need more immigrants to fuel the economy and pay for your pensions and care.

Who would you exclude, or what cap would you put on numbers?
