Must be particularly gutting for you having known him so well, he was obviously a cut above the ordinary MP...

Funnily enough, when I first started working for him I was a little disappointed. Naively I'd thought every day would be high politics and debating great issues of national or international importance. As many of the tributes have flagged, however, David cared so much more about local issues, and 80% of my time ended up being spent support xyz local charity or resident on a whole range of issues. 20% of my time was writing speeches. David knew what was more important and I slowly came to realise that, and it's even more apparent how true that today, given the huge numbers of stories that have been shared about his kindness and help for othes.
