Unfortunately, there are many people in this country that are only happy when there is perceived racism.
This report, whilst recognising that there is of course some racism in this country, points out that it isn't widespread as some want us to believe.

I'm sure or would at least hope that your opening sentence isnt true mate. We are a very tolerant country, using the Batley RE teacher story as an example of such, which, in my opinion is a complete farce. There is racism in every country, city, town and village, from derogatory use of language all the way through to the 'Windrush' scandal. I honestly believe that it will never be eradicated. I live about 15 miles from Bradford and have suffered racist abuse on more than one occasion for being white whilst working there.

Some of the left academics, black and white, are coming out with ridiculous allegations dreamed up from their ivory towers. You can't change or erase history but there can be a change of emphasis in teaching British history to look more closely at individuals like Wilberforce who helped bring an end to slavery. But everything has to be seen in context.

What the government report concludes is that, while there can be racism as you have outlined, there is not institutional racism. BAME students are doing well educationally, better than a lot of white kids. That's encouraging, but then focus has to go those left behind and why. Often it is issues at home, but lefties won't have that. BAME are oppressed - it's all about slavery and indefinite victimhood

They don't ignore it, they say that's our fault as well. Poor housing, lack of opportunity blah blah. Racism is a profitable industry for those that champion it since BLM came to prominence, the fact that a panel of mixed races and vast global experience reached a balanced and logical conclusion that didn't feed the more extreme narrative of BLM has triggered the usual suspects who make such a profitable living out of being on speed-dial whenever a perceived racist incident makes the news.

The vast majority of people get along with people of any backgrounds, there are c*nts in all races who do not, we should not judge society by the small bigoted minorities on both sides who create problems...

Some of the conclusions are inevitably correct but let’s not pretend this wasn’t a hatchet job from start to finish and write off the huge variety of criticisms from respectable experts on the topic.

The headline got the desired outcome and life doesn’t really change for most if not all of us but we aren’t the ones this could have gone some way to helping. I think the government should but probably won’t answer the question of why academics who weren’t consulted are named in the report.

It’s not like Priti Patel getting covid restrictions wrong twice in three days, mistakes like that can be slightly understandable considering the vagueness of the restrictions and given that Patel’s capabilities are about as reliable as Boris Johnson is faithful in a marriage. To state that people who would make the report more credible that didn’t, seems very deceptive

Compiled by people selected because they'd already stated that they didn't believe there was institutional racism in Britain.

I think there have been but agree things are much better now in that regard. However your point about black on black gang violence is spot on and racism is an easy cop out to explain if not excuse this. It is a taboo subject for too many people who are afraid to call a spade a spade if you''ll pardon the pun for fear of being labelled a racist The same goes for the West Indian irresponsible father who tends to get excused because it seen as culturally acceptable for men like him to refuse to be tied down (he is a free man and all that) where as we would have no qualms about naming and shaming a white man who behaved so selfishly and abandoned his children. Don't even get me started on the David Harewood the black actor's recent documentary which just made me want to give him a good slap.

Left or right shouldn't come into it really. Right and wrong should be all that's necessary. Unfortunately some in society are racist, theres no hiding from that, as for institutionalised racism, that's a different matter. I'm sure there are examples of it that someone with more knowledge than myself can post.

I dont consider myself racist yet if I'm being totally honest with myself, I have felt racist thoughts before in certain circumstances. I may have even said some racist comments without actually realising. I'm not proud to admit that, but I have to be truly honest. When I hear the call to prayers on a friday, driving through Bradford, why do I think 'oh for **** sake'. Like I say, if I'm truly honest then I do think these things sometimes. This is what this report/debate needs. Honesty.

How would you know? Or I for that matter.

My point was that the members of the Commission were selected for their stated views. It was a foregone conclusion.

It’s not quite as blatant as putting John Penrose in charge of anti-corruption.

The Conservatives’ inquiry into racism within the party was completed as long as two months ago, The Independent can reveal – but Tory leaders are still yet to say when it will be released.

The party acknowledged that it had received the review, set up by Boris Johnson as he apologised for Islamophobia, but would say only that it would be published “in due course”.

The article goes on to say that conservative party members who raised complaints have not even been contacted to give evidence within this inquiry.
