My daughter asked me today if I would get into a car, with a policeman if he showed me his warrant card, and had all the paraphernalia of a police officer about him. I think I would. I don't know that this is what happened, but that is what her friends are all asking each other that question. Worrying isn't it
Im gonna be honest Beth, the chances of this type of thing happening are EXTREMELY rare.....in fact I would say, if my memory is correct, unprecedented (though of course it might have happened in the past) If this guy has done this, in this way, it’s awful, however the chances of it happening are negligible and I cannot see how worrying about it is going to do you, or your kin any good whatsoever. It’s just a matter of being sensible, taking precautions and looking after yourself.
You would have no need to or be required to get into a police car, without being suspected of committing a crime. Infact, it was only last week when I got stopped and asked for my details (which are written all over my van). I asked them what crime I had committed or what they suspected of me committing. None, just a routine check. I politely refused to give any details and drove on, with them following me for over a mile.
She was doing all the right things, ..phoned her partner, wore sensible shoes and bright clothing, walked on main road not particularly late... apparently had an app on her phone... And you are a man Bob, and sure of your rights. Not sure I would have the b***s to do that ( but I might now, as a 67 year old granny). This has provoked a lot of discussion amongst women of many ages.. This comes a week after taking my hubby up to his dentist in Preston Road ( one stop from Wembley, where we lived). We could not get to the surgery as a young kid had been knifed to death right in front of hubbies dentist , the previous night. He had been chased up the road and multiply hit by a car, he escaped and was chased up road by 4 people and stabbed with multiple knives. A very different murder but equally sad, he was 15 or 16. I do not remember it was like this when I was younger... Or am I just fogging my memory with sun and flowers and fluffy kittens
That's what I thought as well Beth. On reflection I think most people would. Imagine if he said he was arresting her because she was out breaking lockdown? I am sure he must have done something to lure her into a car.
No, it really wasn't like that in the 60's and 70's. You could get thumped or kicked by a skinhead, but you limped off to live a other day. People didn't carry knives.
Scotland have just passed a new 'hate speech' Bill which includes in the home, this is their justice minister...
Now that Surrey has gone...can we get back to all the pointless arguing and bickering....never liked the bloke anyway. All Tories eat babies tongues....discuss !!
Kicking off a bit with the police at the banned vigil that went ahead anyway. Tories probably only eat the lemon and lime fruit pastilles.
Grim scenes in Clapham tonight which reflect terribly on the Met. Little chance of any senior heads rolling. Priti Patel probably got off to it, the awful ****.
