The irony that some on here and social media take the piss and infer that a woman holding up a sign in support of a man called ‘Brian’ is thick and can’t spell, due to the fact they haven’t actually taken the picture in its context.....really isn’t lost on me.:)
I guess it’s like a certain poster on here constantly taking the piss out of Dianne Abbots maths cock ups and then not being able to workout a simple percentage equation......priceless :)
I second that

It's all about context though....this picture is over 4 years old for a start. Secondly, during the first IndyRef, the pro-Indy mob Wings Over Scotland ran a campaign with the slogan Bairns, not Bombs as a way to highlight the fact that the obscene amounts being spent on the Trident replacement could be better spent on education. Thirdly, 77 year old Brian Quail managed to stop a convoy of armoured vehicles carrying nuclear warheads travelling through his hometown on the way to Faslane by standing in the middle of the road. At his subsequent court trial supporters used the banner Brians, not Bombs as a play on words of the original slogan.

Amazing how quickly some people can be duped by omitting the true story....
Excellent post Steels. I was ignorant of the context as were many on here hence myself not commenting. Others chose to <doh>

To be perfectly frank and honest, I only knew of 'captain Tom' as an old guy in the news walking up and down his garden for charity. Excellent stuff. I know of plenty who go above and beyond that every ****ing day of the week ffs! He had his life, I hope he enjoyed it and well done mate but **** me people are getting a tad carried away over an old man who walked in his garden.

I thought flag waving patriots were all knuckle dragging racist simpletons
Is this where labour sees it's future
They'll all be singing land of hope and glory and telling us what a great past great britain had soon

Dunno if you read much at all Kiwi, but this book talks about how Labour has to win back the working class and go back to its true values.
Sums up my views and opinions completely.

Then for our resident far right social media activist to say that the 'left' are politically point scoring over his death is beyond ridiculous! Anyone taking the piss out of any death is quite perverse. They are just idiots regardless of political persuasion.

Hmmm......not really mate. It’s all about media manipulation of the masses to make them feel good about themselves and their own superiority.
We are all being manipulated and see what we want to see....it’s what they do and sometimes it makes us look a bit silly. This is just a prime example but there are many more.
Another one recently was when the MSM reported that someone, who is basically hated by the vast majority in this country, was in hospital ‘dying of COVID and fighting for every last breath’......he really wasn’t and I know that for a fact
But it made the public feel great to make the ‘good’ and ‘let him die’ comments......it’s just what the media do.
Cmon Staines, spill the beans

Sorry mate but I was upset when I heard the news of Captain Tom and was one of the first to pay my respects on the RIP thread. I then went on Twitter and was treated by that Tweet which I posted. I was complaining that Tom hadn’t even been dead long and people were already on his case. I then get accused of making a political point ffs? Same one as usual.
And to set the record straight... I respect all the QPR posters on here. even the ones I disagree most with. If this thread was closed I would still be on the others. Sadly not all of us are like that? Political stuff is their goal.
anyway apologies for some of my post digs but it irks me when I get accused of something that I wasn’t even doing.

The fact is, that once again you get defensive when anyone dares to mention something about leftie freaks. Who by the way we’re trying to point score. You then try and turn it. Sorry Swampy I’m not buying it.
Funny how you can come on here and troll me about Captain Tom but you can’t even go on the RIP thread and like anyone’s post or write something yourself? go away your mask fell months ago.

I’ll be sure to like your post. It’s what he’d have wanted.

I’d rather Labour was able to win without the fake US-lite flag shagging the Tories insist upon but they’ve been allowed to be painted as somehow anti-‘honest, hardworking taxpayers’ for far too long by the party of austerity and cronyism.

But it’s not really aimed at me. There are plenty of floating voters and Brexit mugs up for grabs at the next election and Labour needs a good chunk of them. Starmer should start wearing a Union Jack suit.

Why in anyway is that disrespectful? I have respected that the old war veteran walked up and down his garden for charity. Tell me, what have I missed? I'm not going to pretend his passing has upset me, I didnt even know him, nor would I if he hadn't done the charity walk, which I said was excellent. His passing has nothing to do with politics yet here it is on a political thread, Maybe in your eyes I am a disrespectful **** and maybe in my eyes you're just a ****.
