I think it's a better deal than most moderate brexit supporters could of hoped for.

Agreed. I think it's a fair compromise on both sides. Even the UK fisherfolk will do well, they just have to remain patient.
Brexiteers on here have been saying for a while now that German manufacturing and the important exports to the UK would have an important say in the deal, and so it proved. Although Macron and Barnier were in favour of a no deal to soften the UK up for later resumed talks (it would not have had the effect they hoped for), it was German influence, Merkel through von der Leyen, that pushed the deal over the line. And so good sense prevailed. Boris has a much needed feather to stick in his cap, but for me, the real hero of the piece is David Frost, the UK negotiator who never showed anything but balls of steel
