He's already been slapped down, with Covid according to the Guardian, and after meetings with his own government officials and EU heads of Government. Track and trace in operation. Rather confirms my opinion that attempting to agree/do Brexit in the middle of this pandemic is utterly irresponsible. It should be postponed until it's over, most likely not until most people in Europe are successfully vaccinated.

I don’t think you’re appreciating just how much we need that sovereignty.

Sentence seems to high to me, but then I don't know all the facts. It's interesting that the DPP originally charged him with murder so perhaps there was an element of malice and retribution in what he did, rather than just to recover the bike

It's always interesting reading through the sentencing guidelines to see how much wiggle room a judge has. Doesn't seem to be all that much wiggle room in a manslaughter case like this, but what I'd like to know (in line with your original post) is what makes this manslaughter instead of death through dangerous driving? I'd guess it was his intent to harm rather that killing through negligence.

I wouldn't have had a problem with Brexit being put on hold till the pandemic was under control.
I don't know whether that was feasable or not.

Apparently he got 36 months for dangerous driving to run concurrently. The original murder charge was founded on the fact that he drove the wrong way around the roundabout and then repeatedly smashed his car into the bike and thieves. So it seems clear he lost it and was intent on doing injury.

It was certainly feasible, but the ERG wouldn't have stood for it, so Johnson wouldn't contemplate it.

We had the option to do so until the end of June but Johnson’s stock was high at the time as blindly backing a government doing **** in a time of crisis is the patriotic thing to do.

Imagine the Mail headlines if he’d been seen to kick the can down the road another year. Not a chance.

WTF?

Trump's former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has told him that he should use the army to re-run the election in swing states that he lost to Biden. Meanwhile the Pentagon has called a halt to briefings for Biden's transition team.

Madness.

Global Britain.

I find it stunning that this report comes from a country that has virtually no benefit system and no national health system, about a country that has one of the most generous benefit systems on earth. Which is partly why all the illegal immigrants want to come here.

If children are going hungry in the UK, there must be an enquiry into where the benefit payments are going

Maybe UNICEF just have it in for the Tories as Mogg suggested.

Exactly this, I cant see anyone, even the most ardent brexiteer having a problem putting brexit on hold until we get control of this pandemic. It's totally irresponsible to continue at this time.

A massive global charity having it in for the Tories is the only logical conclusion.
I really cant understand how people could even get annoyed at 25k going to poverty stricken children, whether it's a political stunt or not. I get more annoyed at millions upon millions going to companies providing useless equipment during the pandemic with no tender necessary. Just a wink and a nudge. I suppose my priorities must be cuckoo

What would their agenda be for pulling such a stunt?

Welcome back, Bob. Embarrass the government into moving to a more socialist state which takes responsibility for bringing up voters' children

No child should ever be hungry. Assessing whether they are, and where, and why with a welfare state, are crucial questions that must be answered
