So you'd abandon important principals of free trade, preventing companies from setting up subsidiaries abroad or outsourcing to foreign countries. You'd go full on protectionism like Labour in the 1970's.
If i was the government and i thought protectionism was going to win votes then yea i'd probably go for it much like we've gone for brexit as it's a vote winner.
Anyway i'm not sure how we got to here but we can't force companies to make workers come back to the office and it makes perfect sense for companies to reduce their costs by reducing office space required if people are just as productive from home. Schnappy schnapps can moan all he wants
Being in the EU hasn’t particularly protected many workers rights throughout the years and in fact, EU rules can be used by employers to break strikes and make industrial action illegal. This myth that the EU is the friend of the working class in total bollox.
We got here, because redundancy beckons for employees that stay at home, if their employers feel they're not missed or their role can be done more cheaply by outsourcing to another company in India or Pakistan
Corbyn ran a protectionist type manifesto, so my advice would be not to try and win an election on that

I don’t see how putting us at the full mercy of this government gives people any chance of that improving. They’ll chip away at workers’ rights (purely my opinion of course. Ellers may have heard differently when giving John Redwood a reacharound).
You are probably right about the current government....But that’s when we as voters can vote out the government in charge if we feel they are going too far.
The hierarchy in the EU are appointed (or voted for as a mere paper exercise) and that’s where the problem lies...it’s just rich people, appointing rich people into jobs that make them all even more rich.

When you are driving your 'Gallon guzzler' are you worried about some poor soul who can't afford a car? I agree. I can say something then do something else. No one is perfect but all polticians should have the best interests of the people and not for personal gain or for mates.
The same can definitely be said of the main parties in the UK.....especially Boris and his cronies. I thought Labour could of been different but sadly they are just as bad.

They tried that with call centres. The people hated it and they've bought them all back to the UK and to the likes of wales and Newcastle. Might be good thing as our economy is currently too london centric anyway
I think some start off with good intentions but once elected... after a while, they change. A good example is that Brighton MP (Caroline Lucus). She started off talking lots of sense but then went all weird.

I would say it’s more difficult to find a Tory MP who ISN’T looking after himself
That's when they interface with the public. But outsourcing internal stuff can be cheap and effective
I'm not sure what's a less comprehensible dialect - Indian and Pakistani, or Welsh and Geordie

we'll just have to face it when we cross that roads as pandoras box has already been opened. Most of the big companies aren't planning on going full time office staffing for the foreseeable future.
