We are disgusted by the recent interview
@Keir_Starmer
gave to BBC Breakfast. To say that defunding the police is ‘nonsense’ is a slap in the face to all the Black academics and activists who have been working on conceptualising a just society for so long.
From his horrendous remarks about the removal of the statue of Colston in Bristol to calling the Black Lives Matter movement a ‘moment’, Starmer has shown time and time again that he does not care about antiblackness - within society and his own party.
Let us be clear: posting a picture of Starmer taking the knee is not enough. This is performative solidarity at best. We will continue to stand with Black Lives Matter, inside and outside of party structures.
We send our rage and solidarity to everyone who has left the party and to those who remain. Black Lives Matter. Today, tomorrow, always

There really are some nutters around

A question from me.....

Doesn't "defunding" the police effectively mean scrapping the police? How can there be a police service without funding?

Or am I missing something?

Or any wealth creation either with the end of capitalism

Though ironically of course it has been some non capitalist regimes that have had the most extensive security regimes - think Stalin's Russia or North Korea. Got to keep the proles from doing anything they shouldn't be doing....
