No it won't, obviously figures will alter but the cost of leaving the EU will be felt for a long time. Have you seen the figure of how much this debacle has cost so far?

Nothing reliable. Reports based on the decline of the pound etc don't mean much, because the pound can climb again. Obviously, there are transition costs in the last 3 years of uncertainty - which is all the more reason why we shouldn't incur them again by attempting to rejoin the EU as some Lib Dems are proposing.

Keir Starmer - sorry, 'millionaire Keir Starmer' - looking nailed on for the Labour leadership after a poll for the Standard put Long-Bailey in fourth place. Good - he's the one that the Tories will fear the most.

It's multi-millionaire Sir Kier Starmer. What are you trying to do, Strolls, be disrepectful?:emoticon-0100-smile

He probably is the best candidate - Lisa Nandy's one for the future. He'll look grey against Boris, but if Boris messes up, then Starmer might come through as a uninspiring but solid leader. But the fact that he's in favour of unrestricted free movement with the EU will not win him back many of the Labour faithful that wouldn't vote for Corbyn

I like Lisa Nandy, too. She should get a prominent shadow-cabinet position, hopefully shadow Home Secretary. She'd slaughter Priti Vacant.

Starmer might not be a bundle of laughs, but he'll come across as statesmanlike, competent and believable. Everything Johnson isn't.

Nandy seems smart. I agree she'll be on the front bench. Hope for Labour's sake they retire Diane and Lady Nugee.

Haven't worked out Prit Patel. Foot in mouth over counter terrorism business. Plenty to replace her if she fails.

Yes, agree your assessment of Starmer, but he's so pro EU, he can't help himself and that will undermine him as we go into the new independent Brexit world. Don't underrate Boris - he's flying high in the polls. He's cleverer than he looks and has a good team behind him.

Boris is doing really well and flying in the polls. People like Boris whereas Starmer is a grey as dishwater. He will be another Eurofreak which is pointless as our country will grow away from the block.

I think he may be Labour's John Major. The electorate have had one, do they want another?

He’s not on £18k a year so shouldn’t be considered.

Can’t believe Tories are actually this brazenly discussing the noncery of other parties’ politicians.

I thought there had been nothing but strikes in France recently...

She is deluded. Have you read the replies?
Here is the second one.
I am French and I confirm that the strikes and demonstrations continue in France. They are always repressed very severely and very violently by a government whose authoritarian excesses are unprecedented. Naturally they are hidden in the meanstream media. Poor democracy..”
