We need a GE as soon as possible after 31st October..
All to do with mathematics Goldie. The opposition have become the majority and minority governments do not get the luxury of being able to dictate when snap elections will happen. The opposition is only doing what all oppositions do namely waiting for exactly the right time when the chances of success are highest - this is normal.
I don't think the public will see it that way, Cologne. It's clear to see that a GE is needed, and the Opposition has constantly nagged about having one, so if Corbyn plays games, he will be seen as depriving the public of a say. It may be, as Strolls says, that he can effect an extension of Brexit leave until January, and agree one after 31.10. If this is the case, I'm not sure how Boris deals with this. Will he go to Brussels for an extension or resign?
I see Boris's Remain brother has just resigned as an MP
If BJ wins a GE after 31/10 with a decent majority he can still get Brexit done before the January extension date and will have the means to reverse all the recent measures that have been designed to frustrate. You wanted your second referendum... the GE will be it.
It will be interesting to see who's moaning about whatever the outcome and who's not.

Yep. Agree with that. Corbyn is no different to any other politician in putting his own ambitions ahead of anything else. He's only positioned his party where it now is because the Nambies have made him **** himself.
Footnote: the Nambies are nothing more that a receptacle for protest votes. That's all they've ever been for 100 years and yet every one of their stupid leaders think they've suddenly tapped into the nation's zeitgeist and should prepare for government.
If Johnson were to get a majority, he could do what he wants. I don't think he can get one after 31st October.
Totally agree you can’t have a revolution with the degree of self obsession we have in the UK. You can however have your own private revolution maybe that’s what I have done over the years I don’t know?
All you can do is focus on lifestyle and be thankful for it I know I think this daily.

Yes. But in addition this time they also need to ensure Boris Liar doesn't take us out with a no deal by the end of October. Not 100% convinced Corbyn isn't going to let a GE happen earlier, when this Bill is passed. He shouldn't trust the Liar not to find a loophole somewhere. I hope enough of the opposition vote against an election until 1 November.

Agree that at last a GE will sort Brexit out and whatever the result based around the subject it will unite the UK.
How people vote will be up to them but it’s right and just in 2019 water under the bridge now people are far more aware and it should give a accurate reflection away from any protest or ill feeling had accumulated in the decades before 2016.
Of course if I was to predict the outcome I think public opinion will not be anything like it was in 2016 ... I have always said 60/40 in favour of remain but I believe it could be even higher ... people at last are looking at our mild version of right wing and are seeing it for what it is.
I also think today that the Scots will not only vote overwhelmingly to remain they will at last get the freedom they deserve ... The NI maybe also in time
I say look at mess and chaos the UK has manufactured itself and the manner in which it has behaved then look st the EU and how professional they have acted. There is no argument imo.
In three years it’s gone from wine cellars and bungs to the realism of exactly how bad the UK has become.
Remain and it all defaults back to normal and issues like immigrants are tackled collectively by us all within one union. Only then will you have peace .
Forget that mess they call the USA we follow their path then it’s over imo. Take the influence and good things from the super power in small doses ... only then would the UK get it’s ID back in the correct way

For reasons that I’ve made clear, I wanted out of this club and knowing that good men like Tony Benn, Bob Crow and, at one time, Jeremy Corbyn, thought the same.....I really believed it was the right thing to do.

I think it was clear yesterday that Boris is not that clever he was exposed as a complete clown. I don’t think anyone will trust him ever which is a shame as he is a very nice clown and good at it

Because he would have to abandon any pretence that he is trying to get a deal and campaign for No Deal. Nowhere near a majority for that.
Nowt to do with me Staines as I got away from the mess years ago. I enjoy a good life yes but it’s not all luck mate plus it’s not about money to me.
The EU’s track record is far superior on any aspect of any class if we can call it that? than the UK imo. We ate ourselves is my verdict and nothing is final anyway ... it evolves but the UK has some harse realities to face.
No one has won anything and the club can be changed at anytime as long as you are a member of course ... it looks like in three years we have to accept that the UK cannot agree on any plan ... there has never been one imo and it’s looks like there still isn’t one

Do you think we would have had the improvements we have seen in workers' rights, health and safety, social equality, food standards etc. under Tory governments unrestricted by EU regulations? What the Tories see is a chance to row back on all of these things in the name of 'competitiveness'. I just don't see the EU as the evil entity that you do Stainesy. I think it has been a positive thing and can be more so, leading on global issues such as climate change and corporate tax-avoidance. I'm an internationalist and I believe there needs to be more cooperation between nations, not less. Of course the EU has serious flaws, but I think the UK should be pushing for change from within the organisation rather than throwing our arms up and flouncing off.
Do you honestly think that all workers rights only came about AFTER we joined the EU (or what it then was) ?
Totally agree any genuine changes couldn’t happen under the Tories but that’s a different matter entirely.....we maybe, just maybe, could of finally got in a genuine ‘left wing’ govt under Corbyn and McDonall....but now I can’t see it happening as many on the working class left feel betrayed by those in charge just to pander to the new ‘Islington left’ (sorry for the labelling just the easiest way to explain for me).
Maybe it’s me who’s wrong but yes I do see the current EU as undemocratic, pro bosses and for the rich.....I’m yet to be convinced otherwise.
