Sounds a bit like a UKIP conspiracy theory, and he hedges his bets. May has been clear we have to be able to enter our own trade agreements, and a CU would preclude that. I still don't think she'd go there.
Funnily when I looked at it I thought for some stupid reason that he was a Tory MP. <doh>
it's because he has been on TV quite a bit.

Oops... Angela Smith, one of the seven that left the Labour Party today, was debating racism on BBC Politics live today and said "it's not just about being black or a funny tinge..." She was sitting opposite left wing commentator Ash Sarkar whose mouth dropped open. Sarkar is South Asian.

I've really kicked it off here in CPH -
A member of my purchasing staff - a staunch French left winger (would make Strolls proud) from Rennes - has just started crying.
She's just realised the heinous thing that she said which was:

"At the moment, I would prefer Le Pen, Macron is that bad and that hated!,
can it be right that my sister has had to go back to live with my mum.
My mum has to buy new glasses, she is as almost as blind as I am, but she cant afford the 450 Euros.
I have had to send them 1000 Euros at Christmas - so they can fix the cooker and live a little better and it's all gone"

Wow, now that is a proud French lady - a single mother in DK, it's almost like the Phillipinos and Indians (nothing wrong in that but arent we the best of the best?!!)
People are now asking why I've kicked this all off - I've told them I'm researching International Tax Laws due to Brexit.

What are we doing to our sheep, DT et al?
This goes deeper, so very much deeper. It's not just the EU, so much more.

Whether it's morals, values or personal integrity, something is going to have to give.

No good asking DT, he'll just say it's 'fake news'. The land of Cheese and Whine?...

Typical crap from Chukka. He is banging on about how the British overcome hurdles, pull together get on with things and prosper.....like Brexit Chukka?

Us British do have a strong tradition of getting things done ... no one on here will ever argue with history ? Fast forward however and it’s a global world that cannot be reinvented ... exactly how the nation is expected to unite is exactly the essence of my gripe about the U.K.

The problems are massive when you have an entire generation who puts celebrities and entertainment first in their minds
Double that up with a compounded self obsession culture you simply do not have the power to reverse day to day life
All that is left is seriously flocks of sheep chewing the crud of life in the format of blame culture with a level of moaning that can’t ever be destroyed

And that comes from a black sheep who is himself moaning and has exactly the same problem but moans at the other sheep

I am getting out of this animal farm at least in very rural France I don’t even have to try and understand anything

I agree with you that the EU will have to make big changes after Brexit. I was reading recently that the love-in between Merkel and Macron has died a death. Macron wants to power ahead to a federal EU and the Germans are now stalling big time.

It does look as though there may be a major split in Labour - Momentum are out to replace about 100, so like the extreme Tory Remainers, the Labour MP's may have to make a jump to the Umunna group. If a Centrist Party (the old New Labour) does take off, it could spell disaster for Corbyn and McDonnell

I can tell you know Macron is a dead man walking
And no **** Sherlock the EU will reform and what’s more they will become very strong long term imo

Ellers you posts every chance he gets from reading the dandy of course hopes it fails ... What does that matter to a U.K. nationalist living in 1950? It’s all going to change of course it will expect Kings Landing is ****ed and doomed

Honda is set to announce the closure of its Swindon car plant in 2022, with the loss of about 3,500 jobs.
The Japanese company made 160,000 Honda Civics in Swindon last year, of which some 90% were exported to the EU.
Honda has yet to make a formal announcement, and the Prime Minister's spokesman said Theresa May would not comment until an official confirmation.
But local MP Justin Tomlinson said he had spoken to Honda, which confirmed it was consulting with "all staff".
"There is not expected to be any job losses, or changes in production until 2021," Mr Tomlinson said.

What has been the reaction?
The Unite union said the reports, if confirmed, would be a "shattering body blow".
National officer Des Quinn said: "The car industry in the UK over the last two decades has been the jewel in the crown for the manufacturing sector - and now it has been brought low by the chaotic Brexit uncertainty created by the rigid approach adopted by prime minister Theresa May."
As well have having a "grave" impact on workers and their families, it "will also affect thousands of jobs in the extensive supply chain across the country", he said.
A spokesman for Prime Minister Theresa May said it was "only right that we wait until the company has spoken with the workforce" before commenting.
The International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, also declined to comment directly until an official announcement.
But he pointed out that car demand had fallen since new diesel emissions rules were introduced across Europe. "That big drop in demand by consumers is bound to have a knock on effect with producers," he said.
Martin Huggins, a Honda worker for 25 years said: "We haven't heard anything at all- all we have seen is what is on our phones.
"The management have told us nothing at all. This will be a sad day for Swindon as a whole, not just the workers but all the subsidiary companies that go with it."

Is this about Brexit?
In a tweet, Mr Tomlinson said: "Honda are clear this is based on global trends and not Brexit, as all European market production will consolidate in Japan in 2021."
The car industry has also been struggling with falling demand in China and a slowdown in diesel sales.
Honda's Swindon plant produces both VTEC turbo petrol engines and diesel i-DTEC engines.
But according to Sky, Brexit is understood to be one factor in the decision, with the carmaker concerned about the imposition of new tariffs after the UK leaves the EU.
Rival Japanese carmaker Nissan also cited Brexit as one reason for cancelling plans to build its X-Trail SUV in Sunderland earlier this month.
And Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover have expressed concern about the risk of a potential no-deal Brexit in recent months. Last week, Ford warned that a leaving the EU without a deal would be "catastrophic".
Is a new EU-Japan trade deal to blame?
The EU and Japan recently struck a trade deal which lowers tariffs on both parties' car exports to zero.
James Atwood, deputy editor of Autocar magazine, said this could be a big factor behind Honda's decision.
"It allows Honda to produce their cars in Japan where most of their plants are and then ship them to the EU without having to pay the import tariffs they have been, which does reduce one of the reasons for needing a plant in the UK," he told BBC News.
BBC business editor Simon Jack says the trade deal certainly "means a dwindling rationale to base manufacturing inside the EU".
He said: "Production at Swindon has been in decline for some time and is currently running at about half its capacity - another strike against it. But, having said that, Japanese companies are very long term investors.
"Sony and Panasonic moved their European headquarters to the EU. In each case, the rationale was slightly different. But many in Japan feel failure to provide Brexit certainty have loosened the ties that used to bind the two countries."
Were there clues this was coming?
Only last autumn, Honda said it was committed to UK-based production regardless of the outcome of Brexit negotiations.
But last month, it said it would shut the Swindon factory for six days in April as part of its preparations for any disruption caused post-Brexit.
The company said the move was to ensure it could adjust to "all possible outcomes caused by logistics and border issues".
The firm said it would help in recovering lost production if shipments of parts were held up at borders.
Last year, the senior vice-president of Honda Europe warned that if the UK left the EU without a deal, it would cost his company tens of millions of pounds.
Ian Howells told the BBC that quitting the bloc without an agreement would affect the carmaker's competitiveness in Europe.
What is the history of Honda in Swindon?
Honda UK is situated on a former airfield spanning 370 acres to the north-east of Swindon.
The carmaker bought the site in 1985 and established Honda of the UK Manufacturing to inspect vehicles pre-delivery.
In 1989, the operations expanded to producing engines. Three years later, a car plant was added, which began producing the Honda Accord.
Since then, the site has gone on to produce the Jazz, CR-V, Civic and Type R.
A second Honda car plant opened in Swindon in 2001, raising production capacity to 250,000 a year.

Just got in to see the news. Quick reflection is that these 7 (is it 7 still?) Have done the honorable thing. If they cant/dont agree with what their party stands for or is attempting to do/not to do then, yes they should quit. I can see short term this being a problem but not so much long term. If only all mps stood by their principles.

Just finished watching the three part episode of inside europe. Was a fantastic watch.

Anyone whos seen it, how one sided was it towards the EU? Basically the way i saw it i kind of agreed how they treated greece and basically called cameron useless (maybe i dont have the full picture).

Quite like the cajones of tusk and how he does things and basically its merkel and junckers fault we are in this migrant mess.

At times i thought i was watching house of cards in that third ep. How the hell did bbc get all them big hitters on the show? Especially when they are slagging each other off on how some people operated.

Think its opened a light on how the EU is starting to become more dictatorial and there are divisions amongst the club

Paul, if the EU was willing to reform I honestly don’t think we’d be in this position now.
It can’t and it won’t.......the pigs at the top are far too greedy for reform
