It's a fair point about the players being better individually than they are collectively. It's up to the manager to get the best from what he's got available and Trollope has serially failed to do that, but it's not just him to blame.
Not adding pace to the squad is clearly a major acquisition failure by the club itself. Lambert apart, the imports up front have been a disaster so far. However, I doubt Trollope had that much say in it, but whoever was responsible for importing Zohore, Gounongbe and Saadi to spearhead our attack have a lot to answer for. Since then, the signing of Richards and Huws smacks of "Welsh" bias rather than logical thinking about what we really need in the squad.
On the other hand I mentioned on here a few weeks back that a number of established players need to step up their performances themselves - they can't all blame their poor on-pitch decision making and poor form on Trollope. Some are not performing anything like they did last season. Ralls, Connolly and Immers are a shadow of the standard they set last year. Thank God O'Keefe is back. At least he has an attitude on the pitch if not the fine skills necessary to make him a great player at this level.
The fact is the whole setup is lacking in pace and quality. Although it's probably not all his fault, the easiest option is to change one manager rather than a dozen players. However harsh that might seem on Trollope, the board need to act on that right now, but any new guy who comes in also needs a right sort out of the players.
