It's not like the players have stopped playing for Rafa, it's just that the organisation on the pitch has gone and that mainly coincided with a change in tactics. So if you want to blame Rafa then that's where you need to look. While you can imagine that the players may be pissed off hearing the manager say he needs players, any player worth his salt would hear Rafa saying they need reinforcements and say "right, I'll show you" and up their game on the pitch. You have to look at where this comment has come from though - the brother of a player who has obviously fallen out with the club and the manager and doesn't train with the senior side. A balanced and informed view? I doubt it.
They are probably ****ting themselves at the thought of new ownership and any kind of substantial cash injection that allows new recruits. Let’s face it, how many of our current squad would Rafa actually keep let alone play, if he had any other options open to him. So many are on borrowed time (hopefully) and the useless sods know it. So yes the takeover has effected the team and it’s performance level. We just have to hope and pray that this takeover happens and happens bloody soon. Cash for new blood is the only thing that is likely to afford the change we desperately need. That said, even if the money is there l am not sure we can attract the type of quality we are going to need. Sadly l can foresee a situation similar to the summer whereby Rafa has money to spend but not fortunes. He has identified targets, but they still won’t come. Perhaps if the money had been there in the summer before we started to drop like a stone we certainly would have done better. Who is going to fancy a relegation dogfight and a miserable slog. Anyone worth having either permanently or on loan should have other options, probably better than signing for us. Money and new more ambitious owners will help, of course it will, but it may come to late to undo the damage. Remember we were sixth or thereabouts when all this takeover malarkey started.
But wouldn't you think that it would make them try harder than less? The better one(s) might retain their places if they put in the effort and the poorer ones can end up with better future jobs.
Yes Jakarta you would think that if this was the real world, but this is football land and PL football land at that. They all think they are God’s, even the lesser talents think they are special and average to bloody downright shocking footballers earn relative fortunes. Look at the manergerial merry go round too. Mess up and achieve fook all, get sacked, get paid off, have a nice rest in the sun, get another job or do some telly. My God it’s the gift that never stops giving. Most players are on long contracts and will sit on the bench and get paid just the same, run down the contract, talented but lazy, blame the coach because it didn’t work out for you and still someone will want you elsewhere. Those desperate to play seldom do so for less than they are currently getting and there are some who will put game time and a passion for a club before money, but not many that l can see. At best someone like Colback will have to swallow a little pride and move to the Championship, at the end of the day it’s his level and he is not the only one that comes into that category, but even he seems happy to pick up his wage for playing in the reserves! They have no shame and no morals, just egos and greed.
