We destroyed LUFC. We beat them. They then folded as a team and as a club. Lost everything worth anything all sold to pay debts. Ground etc now rented.

If you can show how you started Hitlers downfall - great - bit doubtful.

No problem showing where top of the table Leeds with their own ground fell apart.

You a Leeds plastic from Bradford or Sheffield or worse Devon Leeds 18.

oh yes, ken bates, what a legend, so lets get this straight, we have a brand new stadium, an excellent first team, better manager yet our tickets are cheaper, HAHA!!

also, in your signiture: 'If you want to know what everyone in football aspires to be, it's Leeds ' lol.

    A) you hardly started our demise which was caused by league, not cup standing.
    B) even if you did affect our performances, since when was starting a downfall the same as destroying something?

No, I'm from the Leeds 18 postcode area, hence my username. And I've met Leeds fans from all over the country who travel like bastards to go watch the team they love, so don't give me that 'if you're not local, you're plastic' business. Go tell that to the Newport Bluebirds, or whoever.

Brand new stadium - yeah, with no atmosphere by all accounts. Looks boring too.
Excellent first team - fair dos, it looks alright. Hardly spending within your means to buy it which isn't great for the health of the game, but we'll let that slip.
Better manager - well since our team in total cost about 1m quid, and yours probably cost over ten times that amount, since you pay no doubt vast amounts more for players' wages than we do - and you're only seven points ahead - I think that shows we have a better manager to be fair. Whichever manager gets more out of the players is the better, and I think that man's Grayson.
Cheaper tickets - <ok> we have the unfairest prices in football in my opinion.

But yeah, my sig refers to the Don Revie team of the 70s. That's the club everyone aspires to be. Although our support is still envied around the country, Bates has managed to make us a totally unaspirational mess of a club. Hence the boycott, as H Bomb points out. :) Were you actually making a point or just navel-gazing?

Not been doing much homework 18.

The stadium has been bouncing for a while and there were comments to that effect from the pundits during the 2nd leg of the semi. So there is an atmosphere.

As for the cost of our squad, the salary bill is a lot lower than last year given the high earners that left in the summer and we have a slightly smaller squad than last year. As for transfer fees, £750k for Miller, the same for Turner and £250k for Mason. Offset that with £1.5M in for Chopra and we've spent nett £250k! Hardly splashing the cash! The other 8 signings were all frees, and no one on big bucks.

As for the manager, most people think MM has been doing a great job, where most Leeds fans want shot of Grayson.

So, yeah, better ground, better team, better manager.

    1) i take it you have never been to the stadium then, theres a great atmosphere..

    2) all the high earners left in the summer, we spend £250k on mason, £750k on turner and £880k on miller, all steals. the rest were free transfers.

    3) better manager: he's rebuilt the squad on £2m and we are 3rd, you are 9th, we are in the league cup final, you made the second (?) round i believe, MM > PG

    4) good, you deserve it <ok>

    5) keep the boycott up, it means even less money for your manager

Yeah, for a cup semi-final. For the bread and butter games, it's as boring as anywhere else, and I've heard that from a Cardiff fan who was regular there last season.

Whoa whoa, it's not a fair comparison to include all this 'offsetting' business. You can offset anything with anything - we made 6-8m for Fabian Delph if you want to go down that road. I'm on about transfer fees SPENT, and it's true that our entire squad has cost less than 2m. Just because you reinvest wisely doesn't mean we do as well, and that's why Grayson's doing so well with the squad he's got.

    Marshall - 500k
    Hudson - 1m
    Gerrard - 200k+
    Whittingham - 350k
    Miller - 870k
    Keinan - 500k
    Quinn - 300k
    Parkin - 100k
    Gyepes - 200k
    Mason - 250k
    Turner - 750k

Your squad cost 5,020,000. Ours cost just over 1,000,000 (Pugh - 500k in total; Lonergan - 200k; McCormack - 350k; nominal fees for Clayton, Becchio, Snodgrass). Your squad is five times more expensive in terms of transfer fees and you no doubt still outspend us massively on wages. And you're only seven points ahead./ Which manager is getting more out of the players before them?

Wrong. Most Leeds fans support Grayson, but wish he'd stand up to Bates more. 'One Simon Grayson' is still sung at almost every game, and frankly, those who want him out are just plain short-sighted by not seeing the real problem is Bates.

Better ground based on it being new and having a good atmosphere for one game? <laugh> No.
    Better team? Yes.
    Better manager? No.

Looks like I did do my homework, doesn't it? Grayson > Mackay. :)

Just going by reports from my Bluebird observer. Might go this season, depends if I can get travel. Still, I doubt the atmosphere is very good - it's always **** in modern stadiums except for one or two big games.

Forget about the summer, I'm on about the cost of assembling the squad. See above for the stats. You spent more on one player this summer than we did on all our signings, if you're that bothered about recent transfer activity.

Sorry, since when was the League Cup a measuring stick for how good a manager is? And who's PG?

In the LEAGUE, we're seven points behind you with a squad that was FIVE TIMES CHEAPER. Think it's obvious who's getting their players performing better for the standard they're at. <laugh>

In the short-term, yes. In the long-term, it will hopefully force Bates out which means more money invested if we get a sane owner in his place. :) Why do people never think about these things in a long-term sense? Really puzzles me, obviously we don't want our club penniless forever, do we?

I'll settle this in that most stadiums these days are rarely filled lifeless lumps of plastic and concrete whether they be in Leeds, Reading, Cardiff or Wembley.

    Bring back NP!!

incidentally I work with a life long Arsenal fan that has never been to London and i've had another moron this week tell me that they have already won the league cup without having to turn up. I asked which part of Liverpool he was from to which he replied....Ebbw Vale. Can't get to the games as its so far away blah blah blah, bullshit. Again, never been to a game. We'll get a lot of these twats coming out the woodwork.

if that was a piece of homework i'd give you a C, maybe a D.

keinan didnt cost £500k, i dont know where you got that from, we've spent more money on the team but in return from that we've finished higher than you for about 5 years at least, we've been in the play offs the last 2 seasons and we're up there again. sure, its not that expensive to be a mid table team, but to get into the top 3 its quite difficult to do so unless decent money is spent, i agree some of those players you list jones overpaid for, but as mackay didnt buy them i think its only fair to judge him on his signings, and its been excellent. our squad cost more, but is worth far more if we were to sell.

enjoy your mid table mediocrity, MM> PG (apologies, i thought he was paul grayson) any day of the week, come back when you get to a cup final or finish ahead of us in the table, which wont happen, so **** off <ok>

Well there's evidence for everything I said, so unless you're marking me on prose style which is admittedly not my flowing best, your mark scheme should be giving me a high A if it's got any sense about it. Then again, if it's associated with you in the slightest, it probably wouldn't have, would it?

From a couple of lesser sources online. Still, ignore that if you like and my point is still as strong as it ever was about you spending ****loads more than us and having a better team and squad.

Yeah I know. That's the point I'm making. Success costs money and you're willing to spend money. We're not, that's why we're not doing as well. Although Grayson has still managed to get close to the playoffs with a team that cost a mere million.

I don't give a toss about overspending in this instance, just trying to make a point about relative squad abilities and how well the managers are getting said players to perform. And Grayson is doing it better than Mackay, based on the squads the two men have got.

More Swansea-esque blahblahblah WE ARE CUP FINAL nonsense. Enjoy your rotting city's second ever moment in the spotlight.

Give it a rest Leeds-18. You're just proving the point about "tools in the shed" mate.

Nothing wrong with having past glories - just don't keep using them as an excuse to belittle a club like ours that's now left you behind.
