Silversands at Mombasa.............in 1960/2 the RAF used it as a Holiday Break for personel from Aden.......the first time I had seen rain for over a year.........rained each morning for about 30 mins between 5am and 6 am.........it was nice to get away from the humidity of Aden.
 
What about Kindly old gent sitting in the cellar for Sensible.

Sensible I can't do anything to the gusset it would spoil the look. I am a fashion icon you know!!!!
 
Thats the period I was out in Aden sensible 1960/2............Two weeks on the fantastic silversands beach at Nyali outside of Mombasa.........been used before and after that period that I knew it..........plus two days on safari in Tsavo East National Park..........and then to Kilimanjaro National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro 19000ft plus and only 3 degrees south of the equator and a glacier at the top......stayed in a Lodge as far as you could drive up it..........a few good things about doing national Service.

On which one of them would the pink handbag be most suitable??

Plymborn - 1962 on HMS Messina a tank landing ship, stuck in Aden - HMS Jufair was the shore base - only on it for 2 months thank God.
 
A very good morning all.....think I need a hairy dog soon, was a goodie last night....even a few Americans came knocking at the door and joined in.....they cannot believe whats been going on at HP these days!
Shame about the A38 with all the tailbacks etc......I wish<magic> .But today will prove how much the city respects the club.....If only I could be there :sad: Plz someone have 2 large Ivor Dewdneys? back to back in the same bag & a few pints to wash it down for me.....<cheers>

The Naval Base at Aden........was HMS Sheba........a few minesweepers,quite small Naval personal....less than 100.........about 17000 Army.....RAF about 3000, airfield RAF Khormakser, and also RAF Steamerpoint, Communications Centre and the biggest Maintenance Unit (114 MU) in the Middle East, you name it they had it......bar of soap,tent peg or any part for a grounded V-bomber you could wish for.
 
olnickyb the shore base in Aden was HMS SHEBA. HMS JUFAIR was in Bahrain. Also plymborn can be Tinky Winky as pink suits him much better.

Yup a senior moment I'm afraid can't tell my Bahrain from me Aden <doh> The Messina was still an old wreck tho, no A/C just 2 Punka Louvre's in the Mess, a tad warm!!.

I really do hope that Argyle have 'turned the corner' and that you kick off your new season this afternoon, should be a day to remember for all of the good reasons.

Spent 12 months in Jufair as a mere boy of 17. Really exciting and yep a tad warm there too. Going to be 3 points today I feel it in my water.
