I struggled with that one. I was ok with the eating for 5 hours but couldn't get to grips with the 2 hour fasting. Get yoursens, your poops & your parts checked regularly, Hope all your results are good news Mel!
Just seen an update on Sir Les Mutrie, throat cancer, had surgery to remove his voice box which has gone well, get well soon Les. Time waits for no man.
I have a 'Well Ma' check (= MOT) every autumn: BP, iron, PSA, etc. My BP's ok; a touch anaemic (adjust diet); weight OK; colesterol OK; Prostate reads OK. The Bowel Cancer check - 5x2 'smears' arrives every 2 years (over a certain age); had one re-test but all OK. Keep an eye on all your functions, but don't become obsessive. And GOOD LUCK, Mel!

All this talk reminds me of the time I went to have my piles removed, maybe 30 years ago. The doc., smiling at the time, asked me if I'd mind if 4 med students came in to observe the procedure. What the **** was I gonna say ? Had to agree otherwise he may have removed some other part of my anatomy. In walked 4 Oriental students, 2 lasses & 2 lads, no older than 20 any of 'em - neatly decked out in sparkling white coats. As I stretched out over the operating table, the doc then told me he was going to freeze the offending critters with nitrous oxide. I retorted "That's 'laughing gas" ain't it doc ?". The Scottish git said "Aye it is, but this is nae laughing matter !!". I started to laugh my head off. The attendant students had looks of bewilderment on their faces. Their English was not very good, so must have been puzzled by the fact that this stupid Englishman was actually laughing in the face of the pending procedure. Life can be amusing at times. WTF !! On the main topic - it pays to get a check-up regularly after 55 - catching all the crap that can happen down there early is a must. Screw any embarrassment lads - seriously. edit: There seems to be a trend to not remove piles these days, unless extremely bad cases are encountered.l
We have both done the stool tests, me twice now, and they have come back negative; which is a positive thing. My nearest and dearest has recently suffered profound anaemia and is due to take both camera procedures next Monday evening - they have three shifts up here! The symptoms have had to be treated first, by iron infusions seven days apart, the procedures have to be 7 days after the last infusion; this all creates a very protracted period when nothing can be done to discover what the cause of the anaemia is. It is a very difficult period. I will be looking for two all-clears Mel; all the best, lad.
Thanks, same here, the waiting is hard I hope all goes well for you and yours too. I have colon inflammation (colitis) according to the report. Biopsies done. Whatever it is, I will know in as a minimum two weeks. Thanks to everyone for the support.
I have a few polyps but nothing serious. Got my farmer's done at the last colonoscopy. They gave me Fentanyl so it was actually quite enjoyable.
