I don't buy into the 'this will be Pep's real test etc etc.' argument. You don't just happen to fall into jobs at Barca, Bayern, and Man City by accident I'm hardly going to wake up and get a call from Ayre saying come on in and mange Liverpool. He's clearly got class, he's delivered at every club and if you actually bother to read or look at interviews/reports you'll see how good a manager he actually is. Just look what his ex-players etc. say about his strictness, lifestyle changes, tactical ability etc etc etc etc. I'm sure the top dogs in football know what they're doing rather than picking some random dude and saying here go win us the league and CL and various cups. Pep's training methods and tactical knowledge is next gen. Just take 20 minutes reading about what he has done, rather than taking the easy option and saying 'I could win the league with Barca' - I guarantee you couldn't win the league with Barca btw
If I was manager of Barca the first thing I'd do is send that **** Suarez back to Liverpool, and Mascherano. And they can take that ****ing Neymar and Messi with them!
Really don't know anyone who is bothered about who City get as a manager. Good chance for Pep to show his worth though
Yes Woodward is probably panicking now and getting LVG to sign an extension whilst necking his 3rd bottle of whiskey knowing he's shafted Utd AGAIN!
Too early and not proved himself with unsuccessful or struggling teams. I wonder who has deserved that title Clearly the league, the squad and the competition are all important. At barca Pep had control of one of the best 2 teams. At Bayern, he had taken over the management of the top and already successful German side. All he had to do was to build on it. We have in comparison Klopp who has taken over a chronically unsuccessful team and similar to Van Gaal who has taken over a team on the slide, and both clubs have impatient fans with huge expectations! Pep has always had it easy or at least easier than most. At city he will probably have the champions and all he will need to do is to tweak it to make the team more competitive in the CL
Sky Sports, bbc salford and letters columns on numerous tabloid sports sites have been full of Utd fans whinging because they assumed Pep would be their successor to van gaargoyle, don't forget Diego there's 62,999,999 other Utd fans and they don't all agree with your opinion.
If it was as easy as that why did Rijkaard, Martino & Vilanova fail to reach the same heights as Guardiola? They all had those 3 players at their disposal? People forget that Guardiola bought Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Maxwell, Busquets, Pedro & Villa into the first team. Guardiola is a genius and he will turn City into a footballing powerhouse. The funny thing is even if he does that people will still complain that City were the best team in England anyway and they have so much money which means anyone could succeed blah blah blah despite numerous managers failing to make them into a dominant footballing side.
Pep is clearly a good manager, but the real test would be how he copes if things don't go that smoothly. He's done brilliant at Barca and Bayern no doubt... But like mourinho he's been at top clubs and got expected results... However first sign of trouble and mourinho didn't know how to get out of it. Shame he was sacked as would have been a true test to see if he could turn t around. Now not expecting city to be 16th next year but if city have a bad patch, fail to adapt to peps style and are languishing 7th 8th half way through the season it'll be his first real test. Hes es coming into a league where he isn't in a team that should walk te league, a league where all teams can beat everyone else and he's not faced that before. I think initially he may struggle like klopp has done and it take him by surprise, you don't get many 'cold wet Wednesday nights at X' in Germany or Spain. I think hell do well but intrigued how he copes with totally different style.
Well said mate, the people who have viewed Guardiola's training sessions have commented on how much of a genius he actually is and how revolutionary his coaching actually is.
