Sources in and around Anfield have been linking The Ox to a Liverpool move this summer...and it appears very likely to happen. Not too excited about it myself. Would you be happy to sell, and what kind of money would you expect? From what I hear he's been the one player to give a **** this season for you guys. Maybe he has work ethic that suits Klopp more than Wenger. Interesting move to keep an eye on.
As mentioned on the other thread, I hope we keep him. He needs to improve his finishing, but he's a really dangerous player and one who always gives 100%. Was very good last night against Boro and always keeps the full backs on the back foot. But if klopp comes waving £35m, then we should bite his hand off
It raises the question though for the top 6 clubs is 35mil a big figure anymore? This summer the money will explode, again. Insane I know but 35mil is a pretty standard amount now. Last summer when we got Mane, a lot of people scoffed at the price, now it's an absolute bargain. Then you have players like Sissoko, Bolasie, Jansson all went for high fee's. 35mil is too high due to his contract expiring, so it might be less. But he's PL experienced, English, still quite young. Add all that in and you know he won't be cheap.
These are joke rumours mate, no one in their right mind would pay £35m for OXO, who has done little at the top level, let alone a classy operator like Klopp being interested in him. Liverpool's ambitions are higher than a player like him, they need better quality if they want to compete for the PL title. OXO has a lot more to prove and at the moment he is lower to mid table PL at best. Can he do better? Who knows, but we can't talk about what IF's, but what they can do NOW, and right now he ain't done jack.
OXO PL Stats: Age: 23 16/17 (current) - 26 played, 2 goals, 5 assists 15/16 - 22 played, 1 goal, 1 assist 14/15 - 23 played, 1 goal, 1 assist 16/17 current season breakdown: 14/8/2016 - Scored 1 goal in a losing game against Liverpool 29/10/2016 - Assisted 1 goal in a hammering winning game against Sunderland 19/11/2016 - Assisted 1 goal in a drawn away game against Man U 3/12/2016 - Assisted 1 and scored 1 in a hammering win against West Ham 10/12/2016 - Scored 1 in a win at home against Stoke City 5/4/2017 - Assisted 1 in a win against West Ham His best season so far but nothing much to write home about. Only contributed in 2 games against top teams, 1 of which was in a losing situation against Liverpool at the start of the season and the other against a struggling Mourinho. From 10 December 2016 to the 5 April 2017, he didn't provide a goal or an assist, this coincided with our worst period when we dropped out of the CL and PL title race at the same time. It's looking at his performance stats that makes you realise that this is all agent bullshit trying to get OXO a better deal. But a better deal for what? He ain't done **** for us, he went missing like the other tossers who are demanding pay rises. The only guy who didn't go AWOL is Sanchez and he's the only one that wants to go. Another interesting piece of news, do you know that OXO played in 8 different positions for us this season? He's played as: Left Wing Right Wing Attacking Midfield Left Midfield Central Midfield Right Midfield Defensive Midfield Right Back Either Wenger doesn't know what to do with this guy or he's trying desperately to fit the man in. How can someone play in so many different positions after being with us for so long?
The key here is your manager won't keep him if he isn't performing. We've kept players for ages who haven't contributed jack, that's why we routinely collapse every season, around the Feb mark. I can't imagine Poch putting up with any of our player nonsense.
