I laughed when I read this: "There is no update on Dimitar Berbatov's proposed move to Monaco, but Fulham do not expect him back at the club following their £11m signing of Greece striker Kostas Mitroglou from Olympiakos." What are we going to do if he suddenly appears tomorrow morning ready for selection?
Can Mitre play tomorrow or did we bring him in too late? We might need Berba if he isn't eligible, one more game then he can rest on the bench.
"Dimitar Berbatov close to Monaco switch in most fitting transfer ever With Fulham committing the future of their striker position to record signing Konstantinos Mitroglou, the club has been shopping luxury attacker Dimitar Berbatov‘s expiring contract. The Bulgarian – who could unquestionably double as a Bond villain – is now reportedly close to a move to AS Monaco. Just do a Google Image search for Dimitar Berbatov and you’ll see why the possibility of his Deadline Day move is hilariously fitting. The cigar-smoking, tuxedo-wearing, selfie-taking, dapper veteran was originally rumored to be headed back to his old club Tottenham as part of a swap for Lewis Holtby, but with the young midfielder already joining the Cottagers in his own loan deal, the time is right for Monaco to swoop. However, according to French media, despite Berbatov already agreeing to a short-term loan move and completing a medical, Fulham have changed up their asking price at the last minute, now apparently demanding young defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin in return. The London club have been heavily linked with 30-year-old Everton defender John Heitinga, but if they can convince Monaco to part with Isimat-Mirin, they would likely pull out of the running for the former Toffees Player of the Year. There are a lot of moving parts to this deal, but so far nothing has come to pass that suggests Berbatov won’t be finishing out the season in the tax-free French province." Berba Move to Monaco confirmed. http://www.itv.com/news/london/update/2014-01-31/reports-berbatov-move-to-monaco-confirmed/
What is going on? I'm starting to think I fell asleep at work and I'm going to wake up shortly to someone asking me a technical question... EDIT: Serious question: with Ruiz, Senderos, Taarabt & Berbatov gone do we have to keep Bent now? Otherwise we'll have no one to attract the irrational hatred. Although I guess we do have Sidwell!
Haha Senderos too going? Heitinga definitely in... With Burn and Amorebieta and Brede of course we have enough...
Riise must be glancing at his phone - one last out and in tonight? Fans cheering Senderos's departure on SSN
Confirmed by the Club that Senderos has gone on a permanent transfer. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2014/january/31/senderos-exits
I find the celebration of the departure of Senderos on Facebook to be a little distasteful. Despite what a few people on this board may think, Senderos was not that bad for us. I always felt that he tried and that he cared, which was in stark contrast to several of the other departures this window. Hopefully Senderos does well in Valencia and this deal is good for all parties.
Agree with you and the Captain, Surly. Not least because of Philippe's commitment. Well remember him as one of the players (sometimes one of not very many) who always acknowledged the fans at the end of a game. And after all is said and done, we got him a free so whatever Valencia paid is a profit.
Well said Surlyc. Senderos may have been a tad clumsy, but he was a tryer and always gave 100%. I follow him on twitter; he's thanked the Fulham fans for their support. He's a proper classy character. Good luck Big Phil. I slightly feel sorry for him if he makes his debut tomorrow. Barcelona v Valencia = Messi v Senderos. Yikes!
I read this morning that when the Valencia website announced the signing of Senderos, they accompanied it with a photo of... Brede Hangeland! Do you think they knew who they were signing?
OK I'm pleased that he has moved on, if only for the health of my heart and those of many others. However, I have to agree with the sensible words of Surlyc and Bobby - Y0u cannot doubt his passion and commitment to the cause of FFC! And he's risen above some of the social media posts "‏@Philsend47 hrs I just want to thank everyone at @Fulhamfc and all the fans for everything during my time here.Thank you for all the support!
