The Oscars

I love the Oscars! Every year there's some issue all the luvvies love to gather around. Down the years we've had the indigenous rights of native Americans, more rights for black people, the rainforest, climate change etc. Now it's greater protection for actresses - of course, none of whom got where they are by sleeping with film producers and directors etc.

All worthy causes but, strangely enough, they seem somewhat shallow when the message is delivered by batshit actors and actresses who would sell their soul for five minutes of fame.

Also, there's usually one token disability actor who gets held up as an inspiration to everyone. Their fame lasts the obligatory 15 minutes before disappearing into the ether, quickly forgotten by the shallow celebrities who were recently falling over themselves to get pictured with them in front of the nation's TV and press.
According to the BBC viewing figures for this year's Oscars were down 15%. America obviously doesn't want to watch women and the oppressed bleating on about Me Too and Time's Up. There is meant to be a sea change in Hollywood so expect more fillums about angst-ridden hormonal bints and D'Shaqeem sticking it to The Man.

Still, Avengers Infinity War is out next month, yay!

****in Weinstein has ruined it for men. All the wimmin are getting real uppity now. <grr>
