Off Topic The Oscars

Strange examples. Of course, nobody has ever held a better Olympics than Atlanta...

They have held worse ones than Atlanta.

Why is the World Cup a strange example. They are not a football nations but held a better organised, more profitable one than most football countries do. Helped by having larger stadiums having loads that hold 70,80 and 100 thousand than elsewhere and no need to build new ones.

Atlanta is widely regarded as the worst modern Olympics ever held.

Yes, can't organise anything. Well, a successful World Cup, Olympics...

Makes you wonder why they don't have the Oscars somewhere where they make loads of successful films and now how you organise things. Any suggestions?

I think you missed my point, these Oscar are just a self congratulatory gig, and you would think they could at least get it right.

It was something to watch. Warren Beatty knew something was wrong so didn't want to announce the winner. He then showed it to Faye Dunnaway I suppose looking for help and she just immediately blurted out La La Land without appreciating what he was doing by showing her the envelope, so the gig was up. Funny really.

I thought La La Land was a documentary about the Allams and their diminishing bunch of supporters. Or where Patty lives.

You said it was typical of Yanks to **** it up. It was typical of self-obsessed lefties luvvies who ironically are good at dishing out advice from their ivory towers of what others should be doing.

Can't understand the fuss over or interest in the whole thing. No matter how mundane your life is there are better ways of spending time than watching this pile of turd. Listening to the meltdown on TV this morning the most earth-shattering event, eclipsing wars, famine and everything else was that event last night. More newsprint devoted to it, as there are in years without monumental gaffes, than far more important things.

A bloke from near where I lived when I was 15 was in the that motorcycle display ream. They only adopted white helmets the year he joined them. A couple of years later he got the first Japanese minor bloke most people round here had seen, can't remember the model name but think it was a Honda 450, the first one that took on the bigger British bikes. Very expensive at the time if I remember.Took me for a time on it and we went round a roundabout and hit some wet leaves on a drain and the bike and him went oneway and I went the other, straight over a road sign and rebounded off a thick hedge. Lucky it didn't happen a few years later when the owners replaced the hedge with a brick wall. He got he to go straight vacs on as he said that was the best way to get over something like that. Wasn't too convinced and found it hard to lean into corners and was mentally pulling the bike back ip.

Ah, drunk posting on a Monday afternoon. Lovely.

When people care about wars, famines and everything else, they're also leftie luvvies, apparently.
