My brother-in-law is a season ticket holder here in my home town, he was poor even by Northamptons standards
PGF whats your view on Bartley because you will know that most Leeds fans had the horn for him, yet he couldnt get into a relegation bound team?
Norwich City next up - letsbeavingyou Always remember the days when Norwich were in the Championship/L1 with us and both squads were similar in size and quality, but then the MD of Norwich decided it was worth a punt to throw a bit more cash into the pot to get a bit more quality into the team. Ken Bates said it was stupid and refused, and Norwich went up and we collapsed after Xmas as usual. 10 years on and Norwich have bounced up and down a bit and now back with us in the Championship. They do however have parachute money still. A squad of 35 players seems a bit excessive but when you need to offload some big wages to get a grip of the club finances, it can be tough because players on big wages can sit and earn for doing nothing. Some good players in the squad though, but not as good as last seasons failures. Oliveira and Rhodes should score plenty this season and Rhodes has already weighed in a couple of times but also missed a penalty. From the days when they won League 1 they have been a proper team and club but let themselves down last time out. 2012 12th in the Prem 2013 11th in the Prem 2014 18th in the Prem and relegation 2015 3rd in the Championship and promotion 2016 19th in the Prem and relegation 2017 8th in the Championship not good enough 2018 14th in the Championship and wasted money. For me the wheels started to come off when they got rid of Chris Hughton after he took them up and then they got rid. Chris is still doing a great job at BHA and another promotion and a second season in the Prem for the seagulls. Bad money has been spent, wasted money on some who should have done better but management failures have hurt the most and last season was very poor for a club of this stature. On a par with the failure at Hull City last season. This season will either be average or they could do well, but so far with 2 losses and a win they really need to do something. Sounds like some dickhead at the club is a Social Justice Warrior though and thought having a pink visitors dressing room was a good idea. Well I have a feeling that all Leeds players like kissing the pink
Blackburn Rovers have signed midfielder Harrison Reed from Premier League side Southampton for the remainder of the 2018-19 season. The 23-year-old links up with the Championship club, having played 30 first-team games for the Saints.
Stranger things have happened but hearing a Championship club is chasing Lassoga who has scored 4 in 4 plus one assist so far this season for Hamburg
Another good player. Saw him play against us a couple of years ago on loan (Norwich maybe?) and thought he was the best player on the pitch. Is it still the crazy chicken people in charge at Blackburn? Didn’t they get Rodwell too? Maybe they are having a bit of a go at it.
Fridays Boro game will see a match between Beauty & the Beast if you think about style and tactics, or you could say a match between a Steam train and the TGV. Got a lot of time for Pullis and always wanted him at Leeds, simply because he is like Big Sam. He can save a club from relegation and can also win promotion. He steadies floundering ships and makes the club loads of money. It shows how far we've come in a short space of time with Bielsa that I dont want Big Sam, Big Mick or Tony Pullis and am now worrying that Man Utd may want Bilesa to replace Jose'. Both Leeds and Boro have great owners and in Steve Gibson Boro have a man who has pumped plenty of money into the club, but has been stupid with some of his managerial appointments. This time he has Pullis who refused money in the January window and instead has been offloading a lot of Monk's failures or players who dont fit the Pullis doctrine. Have Boro got into financial trouble through Monk's spending spree that failed, so that Pullis is not able to do massive deals now unless he sells first? Most important match of the season for me because with Pullis being Fav to take Boro up since the end of last season and still fav to win the league, it will give us fans a true reflection of the form of Bielsas Leeds Utd. If you had a glass half empty you could say Stoke wasn't against the real Stoke, Derby were not firing yet ..... Boro have been in the top 2 all season so far and if we get a result it will be a real guide to the rest of the season and if we win I for one will start hoping
Blackburn mate, Bolton had their own trouble when the previous owner sold up to a shyster who has run the club into the hround. See earlier posts about Bolton in this thread
Promotion will come from these teams due to latest form and league position 31st August 2018 Leeds Utd Boro Villa Derby Brentford Swansea WBA Forest Stoke You will note that there are teams who will fall out of that list and a couple who could climb into it like Norwich, Reading, Wendies or Birmingham. But I have also discounted and ignored teams already in it like Bolton and Blackburn and Sheff Utd. 5 matches in but already looking like a very tight end of season and teams form will ebb and flow and the table will keep ticking on so imperative that points get won every match. I will compare this list at the end of September but in fairness I can't see much of a change except the order?
Interesting but I think only after 10-15 games have been played can you get an indication of the season you are likely to have.
This is all good and well. Then i look at last season and realise anything can happen in the championship
True, but if we can sustain this up to 15 games it gives a real indication we can stay for the season. As we saw last season, five games is too soon to think things have changed.
