An, welcome to anorak corner! I understand the principle that the payout would soften the blow but there are two problems. Firstly I am fortunate in my financial circumstances so I would need to place a very large bet to change my lifestyle enough to compensate for the disappointment, and secondly I would feel a complete numpty for wasting said large sum on such an unlikely punt as Saints going down. I don't think I would bet on us going down, but I could bet on us being in Europe the season after next. Last season I bet that we'd lose 1-0 at home to Barnsley; we were on bad form at the time and got quite good odds for it, but we won 2-0 and I was happy with that!
