Old Pip's comments about him becoming a 'box to box' midfielder cracked me up. Spoken like a man who'd never seen him play, as opposed to someone who trained with him for 5 years..........talk about covering your bosses arse.
Maybe mate, albeit Moyes was our leader & had 11 years at the helm, so his behaviour is harder to swallow. As 99% of players are just fickle ****ers & you expect them to talk classless bollcoks.
Much like Moyes Tbh I don't think there are many players or managers who show much class to the club they have left. Martinez was no different - whilst he was having a go at Utd for low balling Everton on Fellaini he was doing exactly the same thing to Wigan for McCarthy. It's the same as the thread on the Liverpool board about managers defending the indefensible - the manager's job nowadays is so demanding and insecure that managers can't afford to put morals and class ahead of doing everything they can to succeed in their current job.
We've touched on this subject before, & I simply don't agree that Martinez has disrespected Wigan in anywhere near the same way that Moyes has Everton. His comments in his press conference yesterday summed the egotistical twat up imo." I always told them they could play without a manager because they are very well organised. But Roberto is doing a really good job keeping it going." Or in other words "he's riding off the back of what I left him" I wish one of the hacks had have asked him if that's the case at Everton, then surely the same applies at United? Who currently sit 8th compared to 1st this time last year....... The reality is, that we're a totally different side now, playing a different style of football with 4 or 5 of the key members of it, players that Moyes didn't bring in or didn't trust.
Who has disrespected who is always likely to be a subjective matter. I reckon Wigan fans, and for that matter Swansea fans, would probably view Martinez in a very different light to you. Again it's all subjective - just the standard 'mind games' between a manager and his ex club. It happens all the time - one manager tries to use his connections to the players to get under the skin of the other manager. If it pisses Martinez off as much as it's pissed you off, then that could give us a crucial edge tonight, in which case Moyes has done his job like any good manager would.
I see no issue with what Moyes has said. As far as I can tell hes simply praised the club and everton fans are just looking for another excuse to hate Moyes. At the end of the day he gave the club a decade of his life. Sure he got paid for it and paid well but he stuck around for longer than any manager you will ever have again. As for disrespecting the club..... we paid £27million for Fellaini...... just saying
Patrick Mather ‏@mather23 12m Expecting the usual from Everton tonight: a tough, hard-fought game and Fellaini to cause us lots of problems.
Glad to see Rafael back. It's funny watching Valencia cross the ball and come nowhere near anyone and then Rafael cross a ball and create a decent chance every time.
