Rumour was that someone else was booked but pulled out at the last min, so they got whoever was available.

    Just watched:

Spotlight- About the Boston Globe investigation into the RC cover up of *****phile priests.

The Big Short- About the guys who figured out the Sub Prime crash was going to happen before it did.

    Both pretty good watches.

I actually think this is nearer the truth. Never really thoughy much of Clarkson. Clearly screwed the previous 25 year format to stroke his ego. May was willing to be his muppet boy. Their humour became tired and predictable very quickly. Now we have another ego presenting it. And what the programme makers are showing (accidentally or on purpose who knows) that any arsehole can present the "formula".

So what's left to hold the programme together? The cars? Clearly not bcos the programme (post 2002) never really gave a **** about the cars anymore. So all you're left with is a bunch of middle-aged men trotting out the same tired old bantz/bollox.

So in short, it's ****e regardless.

GoT was pretty good this week. Continues to be build up though so still waiting for the big stuff to happen. Reasonably entertaining build up though with not much action but lots set up for the final episodes

Things that need to be resolved ...

    • Arya can't leave her identity behind so will have a fight to the death with the waif and then head back to Westeros • What will happen with Jaime Lannister - will he go quietly to Riverrun or still rise up against the Sparrow with Cersei and others • Where the hell have John Snow and Sansa and Tormund and Brienne gone - think we know where that's going • How is Danaerys going to get the ships she needs after her pretty epic dragon mounted closing speech this week • Bran, Meera and Benjen need to find safety • Oh look it's Edmure Tully fresh outta the dungeon, what sort of role will he have, Walder Frey's sons didn't seem keen on trying to recapture Riverrun where the Blackfish has been raising an army and Jaime Lannister is being sent there as well to try and steal it - so potentially a big battle there and a big battle at Winterfell with the Bolton lot

    it was a super episode.

the first scene...who knew this character who was just **** cool would trun up with a flaming ball and chain and save bran... awesome...

jamie going to riverrun has be a spoiler for a long while. he was not supposed to be there that long. so he is going and he will meet the big brienne there. the next episode title gives it away.

the starks are marching... gathering forces theat' be boring tv.

the arya stuff was great...is it all a test? the waif seems far to angry and nasty to be a true faceless man compares to the face peeler. I think arya will kill her and pass the test.

I was disappointed in the high sparrow bit.. but then again they did telegraph the boy talking to him and frankly it is a bit of a bloody waste of the whole i want to be strong bullshit with cercei.. like was she paying any attention.. however ours is not to just want it all to go our way.... no blood, no violence... that was the disappointing part. they rode up for two nd the sparrow let her walk off with not tits out??? it doesn't add up as consistent. just a bit disappointing.

the whole fat guy stuff... just a side story but whatever. not sure where it goes.

We will see some battle at riverrun prior to the big one at winterfell.. theres only 2 epsidoes to get it in..

Finally.. blondie... necessary? hmmm.. fine speech and probably needed to really show her power now but.. was it really necessary to mention 1000 ships needed? really?

dragon bit.. inspirational.. prob worth the short scene.

The battle at river run was spoiled prior to the series i read.. or at least i nthe book i heard jamie was meant to be at river run at the start of this book... something about release chapters or chapters cut from other books... he was never meant to be in king's landing for when the boy turns sparrow.

Sam and Gilly was pretty funny diversion but all a bit meandering, do wonder what will happen now since he took the family sword - valerian steel importantly - was funny how his bro was like ain't no such thing as white walkers fool and those two were like bro, you ever been past the wall ?! Was hoping he'd call them out tbh but he remained pussified

Yeah Benjen's flame filled entrance was cool but it was always gonna be him to the rescue, guess they will go wall now and Bran having Night Kings mark on him will bring it down

kings land stuff was deffo a let down after bitches looked set for proper war, maybe it will happen, dunno

could be with Arya, either way she's gettin back in a boat ... loved how Jacq'n was all like here's me cutting some dead man face off in ma down time, haha

    Just watched GoT. Great episode.

I thought the Tommen twist was very well done. I was expecting a battle with Margery dying on the steps. It was good to see Sam get a decent amount of screen time. His father is a prick that needs a brutal death. Can see why Sam is so afraid etc. Daenarys - same old **** really.
Brans flashbacks hinted at the Jon Snow birth with the bloodied hand. Next week is a heavy Jon Snow episode.

oh yeah those flashbacks were cool with the mad king screaming burn them all with all the neon green, moved quick so didn't catch everything

Tommen you could tell from previous episodes and his conversation with Marygry in the dungeon that he'd had a shift of position, actually thought it was good seeing him as the king take some authority and make a decision for himself and step away from his mummy, he is the fecking king after all and Jaime and Cersie are ****s who we really shouldn't be rooting for in this fight even though Jaime in particular has partially redeemed himself in the last few seasons and become a bit more likeable

No idea why the Tarley father is such a hateful twat, thinks his son is a fat waste of space loser yet won't give him a chance at all, so yeah, for his own boneheadedness he deserves summit grim happening to him

the Daenerys story is the same thing over and over ... ride some dragon, shout i'll conquer the world at some clan, visit some desert or city, never do anything, load of bullshit

Top Gear's dead then, terrible reviews from critics and punters, bet the BBC still keeps trying to shake life into its lifeless rotting carcass instead of doing the respectful thing and shoving it in a black bin bag and chucking it

Let's see what this Grand Tour thing ends up like

Hust started watching and within 10 seconds Evans is already trying to copy Clarkson with the way he speaks about what's coming up with the show <doh>

It's the same scriptwriters tbf. It only confirms the same fella that wrote Clarkson's lines is now writing Evans.

Assuming that ideally they should have just killed the show in the first place.

Were they right to stick to virtually the same format? Or should they have just reinvented it?

Apparently before he punched the producer Clarkson and the team were considering reinventing the show as they felt the format had got tired and reached the end of its lifespan, they should've followed suit and gone for wholesale change instead of patching new presenters onto a format that the others basically owned. I imagine The Grand Tour will be in part, or include a lot of, what they were planning Top Gear to become if the BBC higher ups approved the format change. It simply exposes the BBC for what it is, an organisation mostly lacking creativity with a dearth of real talent looking to milk an outdated concept that has run its course for as much financial profit as possible
