Watched Guardians of the Galaxy last night, pretty good film well worth a watch. Tonight I have either Nebraska or Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.
Although still a good episode, it was the past TWD so far this series IMO Don't think I'm going to bother with Micky Flanagan's Detour De France anymore.
Last episode of Walking Dead was poor, I liked the one with Beth but this one was just boring they need to pick things up now kill a few cast members and get the story on track.
I knew this would happen though, there were far too many characters left after the first episodes so one of two things had to happen: 1) a lot get killed off quickly or 2) they split them up and have two or three story lines running at once. I suspected the latter because thats how they finished season four. I didn't like it then and I don't particularly like it now. My theory though, [NSFW]they get back together and attempt to take over the farm (filled with walkers in last night episodes) and make it their safe place.[/NSFW]
Disagree with you both on TWD, this week's ep was definitely a return to form after the substandard one with Beth and the hospital (substandard TWD is still good - very good telly by other programmes standards, but TWD sets itself a v high bar). That's an interesting theory Greez, if you read the comics you'd know about the Hilltop Colony which is a farming community, maybe it will set up the introduction of that and we will see the progression to all out war with the Saviours. Both of those groups are yet to feature. This series is def sticking much closer to the comics though, the whole Abraham / Eugene storyline is the same as in those. Saw Nolan's Interstellar yesterday, very good, very enjoyable, long film but the plot logic was badly flawed and it let itself get carried away by sentiment. Really ace visuals and effects though even if it's own workings and the science involved was off.
I don't read the comics. A workmate that watches them does but not spoke to him about my theory yet, not had chance
Looking forward to interstellar but the reviews seem to be mixed. I knew about Eugine but can't remember Hilltop, I'm getting to the end of my comic knowledge. I know that Negan will come into it soon and that he is the end of a big character if they stick with it. FOR THOSE NOT WANTING SPOILERS DO NOT GOOGLE NEGAN.
Started Boardwalk Empire, I watched about 6 episodes previously and couldn't get into it but I had just finished The Sopranos and The Wire at the time and I think I just needed a break, first episode is brilliant.
Interstellar gets very nonsensical and unexplained, especially the last 20 minutes, the first hour and a half are reasonably logical and clearly structured although there are some strange jumps in the chronology and sudden cutaways. I know it's sic-fi but there has to be a clear rationale as to what's happening on screen. It gets a 70-75% rating, just about, like I say, it's entertaining, lovely to look at but flawed and not brilliant by any means. I thought they might splice Negan and Terminus together this season, have him as the boss behind the scenes there but they're obviously staying true to the books, thankfully. I would imagine he'll come into it for the mid-season finale and provide a cliffhanger sort of thing. Negan and his crew are kicked out of Hilltop for being too violent but they force the hill toppers to pay them tribute to stop them going all genocidal and rapey on their asses as part of the deal.
Gave up on Empire after the third season, just wasn't that interested anymore and Steve Buscemi was annoying me. They're very solid though.
Got a few films lined up as I'm on a week off. Great start with Mr Nobody and Nebraska, highly recommend both. Your comments if you have seen the following as I have them lined up.............. Hustle and Flow Vicky Christina Barcelona Central Station Like Crazy Looking forward to Hustle and Flow.
Hustle and Flow is ****ing awesome Central Station, Like Crazy and Vicky Christina are all excellent. Some top notch viewing you gots lined up there.Enjoy!
Woody Allen is either s**t or brilliant imo, Blue Jasmine was fantastic recently for example and looking back Annie Hall and Midnight in Paris are also superb. I think the problem is that for every great film there are 2 or 3 that are utter s**t! Once somebody watches a bad one they dismiss him.
