I think it dates back to about 1650 actually. Now and again, you get range rover types pulling up thinking "what a quaint country pub" and going in to buy Sunday dinner. They never finish their drinks
I have never been in one those sort of establishments.. I'm not happy unless the beer is over £3 a pint.
Last night was 2 dollar tuesdays at the local, any and every beer, top stuff, Nothing like 4 beers 8 bucks, a thank you!
I also do not have the uniform of Stone island to gain access to such places... My tweed jacket just wouldn't fit in..
I've been in in a suit on several occasions when I've been to a client meeting or interviewing. It's always "How many hours community service did you get?". Tweed jacket and they don't know you. Twatted before you get to the bar
The tat you drink over there is piss water, its not even cooking lager.. they probably sell it over here as virtually alcohol free for drivers to drink. When my folks were in Vegas earlier this year they were paying $15 for a pint of beer.. I'd throw the **** back in the barmans face selling me that guff for that much..
Sweats, what you are thinking of is the big corporations like Budweiser, Miller, Coors, etc. Yes, it is piss water. But, there are loads of local brew houses and a good rich bold lager, ale, porter, etc that you can find. You pay that extra few dollars but it is well worth it. Brands like Yuengling, Dogfish, Bell's, Anchor, Fat tire to name a few that are known around the country and are good and potent. Also, when you see Budweiser or Miller say we " number 1 in the world at this convention" they are in a seperate category where no one else runs. Like Sepp Blatter is president because no one challenged him, properly. Something like that I guess, maybe not the best analogy but it's all I could think of on the spot.
Trouble is we don't get to see those beers over here much. You can get them in specialist shops/offies (and occasionally Morrisons) but never in bars or pubs. We just get absolute piss like Bud, Coors and Miller. I had some Moosehead once, I think it was called that. Bottled beer, rather nice I remember.
Check this out sweats; http://www.beerhere.co.uk/acatalog/Ale_United_States.html (Morrisons do the Sierra Nevada)
