Seen all of them all pretty good with Thor being the best of the bunch which is a strange choice but it's a good film.

Watched The Counselor, luv. It was alright in places but very underwhelming overall. Probably won't watch it again. 5.5 (on IMDB) might be about right. <ok>

Just finished it and thought it was stunning. Fassbender is brilliant as is Diaz as the central character who is probably the only person in control at all times. I'm such a fan of McCarthy that I may well be biased. To me it's quite a straight forward film where if you get involved in something bad, bad things happen there's no surprises here or twists just stark reality. (McCarthy at his best)

Ridley Scott does a great job of setting a scene as do the Coens in No Country for Old Men and this is essential to the mood of anything by McCarthy. People expecting more from this film will be disappointed, there's no ace up the sleeve or clever twist it is a matter of enjoying the telling of a story and enjoying the performances of the actors telling that tale.

I completely understand why this film is getting such bad reviews as it's not what people expect from a big director and star studded cast.

My advice would be to read Cormack McCarthy and then revisit the films (The Road, No Country For Old Men and The Counselor. Lets forget the terrible version of All The Pretty Horses)

    IMDB 5.5

    luvgonzo 8.4

Books by Cormack McCarthy I'd recommend......

    The Border Trilogy
    Child of God
    No Country For Old Men
    Outer Dark

Visually stunning but like you said could have been better, Sandra Bullock was probably the wrong choice.

A list of films you may not have seen or heard about.....

I've just been looking through Sundance Film Festival awards and winners as this is where the best films always come from (The Oscars is overhyped) the best 2 films I watched last year The Kings Of Summer and Beasts of The Southern Wild were promoted by Sundance so take a look at these.

    Breathe in
    The Raid 2
    Whiplash
    To Kill a Man
    Difret
    Imperial Dreams
    Fishing Without Nets
    52 Tuesdays
    20,000 Days on Earth
    Low Down

That's sort of the point. The Raid is a martial arts action film, really good and No. 2 looks just as good. Just google them and read the reviews on Imdb.

Yeh I agree, I suppose it depends what the story is based on too.

Haven't really seen any new movies lately, latest one was Captain Philips and that was two weeks ago, one before that was Hunger Games: Catching Fire and that was a month or so ago.

Really should watch more new ones though <ok>

  20. Watched Delivery Man and Rush Saturday and Gravity last night. On a bit of a film mission ATM <laugh>

Delivery Man wasn't great but watchable (I gave it 6/10)

    Rush was very good (8/10)

Gravity was good but could have been better IMO (7/10)
