Haha yeah I took your advice and rolled with it, glad I did Chalky is great in it, but he's no Omar. What an actor that Michael K Williams has turned out to be A very small cameo in the Soprano's then… He was only supposed to be in the first 6 episodes of The Wire, but at the last minute they wrote a new story for Omar to keep him in, now he's gone Hollywood on our asses. He's in 12 years a Slave (I think). On that note Stringer Bell plays Mandela in the recent film - not seen it, but the Mrs says he plays an excellent part.
Idris Elba is appearing in more and more films these days. Wouldn't mind getting him back to a show to be Stringer Bell. House of Lies with Don Cheadle is good too.
Hoping to get around to it this weekend, just watched Last Days On Mars. I thought it was pretty good.
Just started with The Soprano's. Nearly finished 2nd season and about to start 3rd season. First season was better than the second, IMO. It's very watchable but hasn't gripped me quite as much as some series, e.g. 24, Breaking Bad, Dexter, but it's pretty good. I suppose I can't really compare them properly yet as I've seen all of the other series and only just started Soprano's. After The Soprano's will try Boardwalk Empire as a lot of people are raving about it. Movie wise, saw The Wolf of Wall Street, Two Guns and Faster recently. TWoWS was as good as you'd expect a Scorsese film to be, i.e. excellent. Two Guns and Faster were quite good action films, both well worth a watch.
Finished season 3 breaking bad. Mazin. Watched Riddick. Possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Breaking bad is quality. Do you mean The Chronicles of Riddick or Riddick 2013? Chronicles were gash, but I quite liked Riddick 2013 as it was more like Pitch Black.
I've seen far, far worse tbh, Sweats, but each to their own. Just watched a film called John Dies at the End. Crazy film. Written by one of the writers (the ed?) of cracked.com and made by the people who brought us Bubba Ho-Tep. Worth a watch, if only because it's barking!
Disappointed by this series of Boardwalk. Wish I was watching Sopranos or BB for the first time again... Been slow in work and I watched Screener copies of The Butler, 12 years, long walk To Freedom, Alpha papa and Wolf in the last two days. Wolf was very Goodfellas, and I think that in ten years, even if you own a copy, it'll be one of the films you watch again and again and C4 on sunday nights at 11pm even though you have to be up in the morning! Never got around to seeing Gravity on the big screen, but downloaded a good copy of that too over Christmas and it was ok (but far fetched). Also saw a copy of Saving Mr Banks last week, which is a bit for sentimentalists of my age who get a lump in their throat at the final scene of Mary Poppins - reminds me of my youth? New series of the Following starts next week. thought that started sound but ended so clichéd. Can't decide if James Purefoy is a complete ham or is brilliant. Kevin Bacon plays Kevin Bacon again. Is this The Americans any good? Few lads in work raving about it.
Fair play, DD. Liked Alpha Papa - but I love Alan Partridge, so probably biased. Never seen, nor heard of, The Americans. Will have to look it up. The Following, too.
Just finished watching the latest season of homeland.... Don't know if i'll carry on watching it anymore (People who have seen it will understand)
Hmmm, wasn't sure about this, might have to have a look now. Recent good 'uns... Cap'n Phillips, Don John, Dallas Buyers Club, The Hunt, Prisoners, Blackfish.
