Watched first few. I'm interested, but feel it's gonna be a lot of nothing. All this mystery, but just a drama in the end
6/10. Lots of famous cameo roles, and Rebecca Fergusson is splendid as always, but the 'mystery' all seems a bit contrived. I do think it's meant to be some sort of comment on today's societies living in their own silos, but sometimes I just feel 'meh'.
Hijack on apple+ / Jack Ryan final series and Witcher all out in the space of a few days / weeks. Some content to watch finally.
Hijack looks good think the first 2 episodes are already available. Jack Ryan started well but just got dull as it went on.
I liked jack ryan season 2. felt season 3 was superhero level writing. Needs to step off the superhero action and be a spy show again. The witcher should be good hopefully.
Happens with most/all spy franchises. They feel they have to grow and become bigger. Only way to do that is to become less and less realistic over time.
the Harrison Ford first jack Ryan move was fine. it was what it was. the second was all but comic book. the 2nd series of Jack Ryan was better than the first imo as the ending of the first was silly.
I actually don't remember how the first one ended. That was the season with the middle-eastern terrorist wasn't it?
yes. the middle East terrorist who had them running in circles with several twists but then for some absolutely inexplicable reason well spoiler alert I suppose. if you recall the ending that is why is say its silly. they put a lot into making a mastermind then made a dumb as a post ending.
Indiana Jones 5 Good but a little too action packed, could have done with more substance to the story and the last 30mins or so seemed abit Crystal Skull rather than Raiders. Well acted, Waller-Bridge is a bit much, but doesn't ruin it. 7.5/10
Critics were panning it online, but I want to see it. There again, it will be on Netflix or Amazon in a few months, so may wait for that so don't have to experience the nastiness that is the cinemas around here...
That's probably due to the last 30mins Like I said the climax is more Crystal Skull than the original trilogy. The original 3 use Religion, Myth and elements of Horror to mix into the Adventure genre. The more recent two have gone down a Sci-fi route, where unfortunately the pay off doesn't work as well.
I'm 2 into jack Ryan. strongly detecting traces of a rather obvious plot and not impressed with the casting and early flip flops. I'm 2 into the witcher now also.
I have to wonder if the choice was something more to do with today's political climate. You have the arc of the covenant, or the holy grail these days and one group of people will be calling it "disrespecting my religion" and another group of people will say "it's not inclusive of my religion"... And if you have some guy outside a western country ripping people's hearts out their chest it is "stereotyping those people as primitives". All that is left is to turn to sci fi. Honestly though, I never really hated Crystal Skull, I thought it was entertaining... not as good as the first two films, or even the third, but none of them have been "realistic" that's never been the point.
