It's interesting to see a different point of view, I couldn't disagree more on Bateman. His straight laced, cold depiction of the main character is superb, he's always thinking and plotting but knows he's trapped for now. There is a Breaking Bad feel to it but it's not a poor copy and at the moment it has huge potential after a very good first season. There is a bit of a lull in the middle as they build the characters but it's one to get on board with now.
Yeah you have to buy into the characters as a lot of the show was building and schemeing and then there's a stark reminder that he is not in control. To carry on the BB comparison you can see how he will try to work his way out of this by taking control.
Yeah on the whole it was a very impressive first season, as far as these types of shows go. They have loads of potential to run with... I get that some people thinks it's a BB copy. I think the only comparison is the main character being a 'straight' family man to start with, any show that has that scenario will get comparisons going. I'm with you on the main character, he really grew into the character well. Towards the end he was starting to turn. Should be interesting to see how it pans out. Long wait though I suspect! The gay fed is an interesting character, I have a feeling he'll be heavily involved with both sides of the law as it goes on. You or anyone seen Sneaky Pete? Sounds like a decent concept, might start it.
Nerdy family guy gets into trouble with drug cartel and is forced to take desperate measures. He has strained relationship with wife but ultimately they conspire to help each pull through as they realise they are in it together. Wife has affair but helps him launder money. The family is impacted and end up suffering because of the father's life style. The man is being single mindedly pursued by an agent and has trouble with multiple criminal gangs. Now tell me. Was I describing the plot of Breaking Bad or Ozark... Now there's obviously some major differences. Breaking Bad dynamically shifted from light hearted to deathly serious. Ozark is gritty and about being suspenseful. BB was filmed in bright light locations. In Ozark it's all about dark filming locations... Even when in bright sunshine they still usually manage to make something about it look dark. There's always at least plenty of shadows. BB was very artistic and clever. There was a lot of play with camera angles and metaphors. Ozark is just about telling a story, few distractions. I like Ozark it's a good series (haven't seen last 2 episodes yet though, been catching up on Endeavour) but it seems very much to me like Netlix wanted to create their own Breaking Bad... So many similarities it was obviously an inspiration... Just like Marco Polo was supposed to be their Game of Thrones (I liked MP more though tbh)
Finally got round to Wonder Woman... Anyone that think Gadot isn't so hot you could try eggs on it....is gay or dead.....unless yer a woman ....then yer just dead.
Good Place back on the air for season 2. . Didn't think first episode was a good as season 1... Still... Just setting the scene for the season I guess.
That's got decent ratings, never heard of it though. Need to see if it's on UK TV. It's on Netflix so I'll add it later.
watched Mother!. Biggest pile of **** you will ever see. It's a first, 1/10 biggest waste of my time. Only good part is you get to see J lawrence where a night gown where you can sort of see her nips and she ain't wearing no bra else its ****ing ****. Watching the killing Danish version and very much enjoying it. The lead detective is sorta hot in a milf way. Seen her in a totally different light because she was not nice in fortitude lol
That's debatable. Actually, I take that back, it's not debatable at all, Teeth is a shocker and giving it credit of having a story line is far too generous!
I like it... It's "forking" silly. Got whatshername from Frozen as the lead character (woman who recently died) and Ted Danson as the architect of the "Good Place" (the after life).
