Tbf Diego I agree but his reaction to Sterling was uncalled for and tonight was a harsh wake up call for Valencia.<ok>

I said at the time i was surprised by his reaction, i have never seen him behave like that before, even after much worse tackles. I can only think he had his last chance at playing in the World Cup in mind (not an excuse, just a possible reason).

If you listened to what Shearer said the line was "when a defender has you in a bear hug you have to try and get away from him, not with the elbow though"
I did listen to him, and I heard what I said I heard from him.
I haven't recorded it though, so I can't quote chapter and verse. Shearer was notorious throughout his career for his... erm, robust approach to the game, so no surprise he thinks it's ok.
Suarez is an idiot who needs to be, and will be, punished- but to hear the sanctimonious crap from some of the worst offenders of their day is a joke.

No he got called a ****ing French whatever by the right wing tit who he twatted

Barnes got his first taste of bananas from you lot anyway - just to make him feel at home....

Evidence for that urban myth please. I was season ticket holder from 1985 to 1997. Not once did I see any bananas thrown at Barnes at Anfield from anyone but the away section (half a ****ing fruit stall when Newcastle played in the cup there in 1988). And evidence please, and not just the usual hearsay.

Many thanks.

Have you got any actual evidence that it included international football? Because I can't actually find anything that says it stopped him playing for France.

Cantona had banned himself from playing for France, so the ban was irrelevant to internationals. When Suarez was banned over the Evra business he was available to play for Uruguay, though had he transferred that January to another country he would still have had to serve his domestic ban in that country. The same was made clear (and that he could still play for Uruguay - which he did) whilst he was serving his Ivanovic ban last summer.

In summary, no-one has ever been banned by FIFA for domestic football for an on-field infringement involv
ing violence with another player in an international game. Wishful thinking on the part of some hysterical journalists and selective old maids of opposing supporters.

That said, the FA stated before the Ivanovic ban that they were unable to take into consideration Suarez's previous biting incident in Holland as it had happened under a different jurisdiction - then promptly cited it in their reasonings for the length of the ban. If Sepp wants to get back in with the English media, or appease the Brazilians as well, then rules and precedents could go out of the window. They do leave themselves open to a legal ****storm though, and it was intriguing to read in the Telegraph that the CAS in Switzerland have supposedly been put on standby by FIFA just in case. So maybe FIFA are ready to bow to the pitchforked mob?

wasting your time donga mate,

tobes just likes to twist everything and go out of his way to defend everything if it doesn't include liverpool and vilify us for everything.

arent they the ones who have just banned someone for racism?

Cantona was even more hilarious, 100 hours community hours for assaulting a spectator for giving him verbals, players get the bollox ripped out of them by opposition fans every week....ask Suarez.<whistle>

I have to say though, Mossy, that one thing that made me feel VERY uneasy at the time of the Cantonna thing was the judge's comments on passing the verdict that the sentence would have been less had Cantonna not been a 'role' model. Yes, it was nearly 20 years ago, but where in the criminal justice system does it say you get a greater punishment if you're a 'role model'? What the **** is a 'role model', defined in legal terms anyway? A teacher in charge of children has loco parentis responsibilities, but punishing a footballer, or indeed a rock star or tv actor, smacks of the state using the courts to enforce populist sentences. May as well go the whole hog and have Nazi-style show trials.

I never made any 'claims' you ted

I just gave my opinion on the likely outcome ( a view shared by plenty of your lot as well btw) and ended up being wrong. Big deal.

You're wrong virtually every time you post, so maybe the 'irony' of that was lost on you. ;)

#bitter hypocrite

Another one who 'knows' the future <doh>

Deulofeu could spend a 2nd season with us, dependant on what Barca decide but Martinez has said that it's a possibility

Barry will stay - quote me on it

anyone have an update on what luis and uruguay said please?

i know they had until 9pm our time to respond to an "alleged" charge of biting someone.

You're talking nonsense and, again, trying to put words in my mouth ....... it won't work.

Only those who defend him, or pretend it didn't happen so there's nothing to defend, should be condemned.

Like this, as an example,

"Hmmm just seen that and there is no proof that it was a bite.

He put his head into his shoulder and pushed forward.

No way can tell for definite if it was a bite though."

Or,

"No different to punching a player and that isn't a ban from all football."

Of course Smug is an expert on biting....

Xxx

Suarez is looking at a two year ban from playing football and he has no complaint if that happens. Biting someone once is unacceptable but 3 times now then he is taking the piss and it don't matter if you are one of the best footballers in the world he deserves a ban. I have defended suarez on a number of occasions but i cant defend him on biting another player yet again. He is a silly young man who is lucky enough to be a multi millionaire that he is financially secure but he should not be let loose on a football pitch again for a very long time. Liverpool are the victims here and they should look to off load him asap and i never thought i would say that...

Reference Suarez. You lads have a major issue on your hands.
Don't envy that.
His behaviour, as many point out was wrong on many levels.
It's a shame that a mercurial talent like that will now be synonymous with his biting.

If i was a liverpool fan i would have avoides defending him, comparing irrelevant incidents and just condemned him on this occasion.

I would have realised this will just carry on and the more desperately i tried to excuse what he did based on what others have done, the more **** that gets aimed at my club.

If its **** all to do with liverpool then we all must agree, ban this vile disgusting creature from football for the good of the sport.

I wouldnt want my clubs name tarnishes again by this idiot.

Thats just me though. I support a respectable club so maybe its different?

fantasist....

You know full well this is just a pissing contest..............

I am of the opinion that at about 2pm or so today you will be hopping mad... It should be fun.

Just my view mito. Great player, shameful player.

I can understand giving second chances but 3rd/4th? Nah.
