Most of you on here don`t seem to realise the differencies between a foul and a bite. Most fouls (by no means all) are the result of poor technique (lunging/late tackles), seeking to gain advantage (accidental elbow whilst jumping against an apponant), retalliation (lashing out with foot, fist or head) or just plain dirty (clobbering somebody to intimidate them or stop them getting past you), all of these can undoubtedly cause serious injury to bone and soft tissue.
A bite is not a natural reaction to any provocation or an accidental thing, it is an actual pre-meditated assault and can convey life threatening deseases into the victims bloodstream. We all know footballers are healthy physical specimins, so are boxers yet football physios and boxers cornermen all are required to wear gloves whilst attending injuries because of the danger of contamination from open wounds.
A bite is a very serious thing.

And you seem to be missing the point! We weren't taking about incidents that hapen whilst playing the game, we were talking about deliberate strikes. What about Rooney's off the ball Elbow that went unpunished? What about Bartons three incidents in a minute?

We're all fully aware of that. A punch, or a kick can also be very serious. It can cause concussion, break a bone, or even kill someone.

All violent acts should be considered very serious.
